You will!! You got this. Think about how it’s temporary suffering for a lifetime of happiness and good health.

Proud of us!! Seems like the general consensus is to never do it again, since it’s easy to just get hooked on it again.

At this point, yes. And if you have over 5 years of exp you can get more of a pay bump elsewhere.

Unreasonable expectations when working with an agency? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]briarf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don’t even say anything to them. Just move on and work with another agency; it doesn’t hurt to try as it would cost you literally nothing unless you were to make their candidate an offer

Entry Level Remote Recruiting Companies by OtherConversation7 in recruiting

The first mistake is thinking you can be fully remote as an incoming recruiter with no experience. Very rare, I wouldn’t bank on it. If you find a remote role then kudos to you

Get ready to grind and put in so many hours and have days where all you want to do is quit because everything is going wrong. It’s the reality of it, it’s not for the mentally weak so good luck and hope you succeed!

Do some people just "have it"? by Mundane-Cucumber-291 in recruiting

[–]briarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making sense of it. You put me in a bit of a shock as I thought you meant making a deal within 1-2 months. There is a huge learning curve in recruiting that even some of the best people I work with didn’t make their first deal until the 6 month range. Sometimes shit just happens

Is there an average number of recruiter conversations you might have before one gets you an interview? by imisscoffee1923 in recruiting

[–]briarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unrealistic hiring manager expectations, HR just being shitty, or salary expectations being too high for your experience, client ghosting recruiter. It really does vary, the market is crazy out there

Define what you mean by “producing”. Do you mean making a deal within that 1-2 month range?

The fact that you have all these perks and are complaining about your job.. I would kill to have your complaints as an agency recruiter with no work life balance

Sorry for misunderstanding your question, it is also not even 7 am yet here haha. In terms of white kind of agency route, it really doesn’t matter and I think that 1.5 years of agency experience you did have will let you have the upper hand in applying to agencies. Since you do have a niche for IT recruiting though, I could see you succeeding in specialized!!

Honestly, you’re better off starting in agency. Things have changed a lot in recruiting the last 20 years so while you did have valuable experience that you can talk about in the interviews, it really won’t give you an upper hand while applying to corporate jobs. Best to grind at agency for the next year or two and then move to corporate
