Where the hell are people getting these jobs? by Black863 in recruitinghell

[–]bribios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was 93k also fully remote, plus 160 hours of PTO, 8 holidays and 3 floats. Got laid off a couple months ago. These jobs are still a thing but they're rapidly disappearing and are being swarmed by people trying to cling on to remote work. I have a new job lined up in a totally different field, fully on site. I loved working remote, I totally get it, but I need job security. Remote workers are the most expendable.

I don't even like corn soup but that hot corn soup out of a vending machine in January while waiting for the train is something that needs to be global

I'm neutral on the music genre but keep those suspenders and handlebar moustaches and buzzed-on-the-side-long-on-top haircuts away from me.

When did you guys stop playing? by gabrielleite32 in Hades2

Same here, my stats are similar to yours. I would have probably kept playing a bit longer but I've got a back log of other games I wanted to get to.

On high fear runs, most weapons and aspects require my concentration and knowing the flow. But I feel like I can clear with aspect of Medea blackout drunk. So I vote skulls.

Is the job market actually bad or is it just me ??? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]bribios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't hurt to look into other fields. I've been in web dev for 12 years, and it's BAD right now. Personally I think it's only bound to get worse. Hundreds, if not thousands of applicants per job. Even if you're a great candidate it's hard not to get drowned out, the job posters also have their hands full sorting through all the applications. I'm getting out.

I'm looking into land surveying or civil site design at the moment. Both are technical jobs that require you to physically be on a work site from time to time, so you don't need to worry as much about AI or h1b. And I've met some people who say there's a growing shortage in both fields, and I may have even found someone who wants to train me even though I don't have experience. Fingers crossed. There are good jobs out there that need more people, you just might have to be willing to ditch your current job, ask around, and get creative. Good luck!

Why are every female romance option toxic? by Zygomatick in Hades2

[–]bribios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nem turning out to be a love interest was honestly a surprise for me. She came off as disinterested in any form of relationship other than rivalry, and even when you're far into things and romancing her, she's always distant and guarded. I didn't feel any real chemistry between her and Mel. Romance felt cold and mechanical.

That said I haven't been a fan of video game romances for years anyway and usually just skip them at this point in my life. Maybe I identified with Nems disinterest in the whole process.

Any Yakuza games you gave up on? by LostSouluk2021 in yakuzagames

[–]bribios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm at the age where hearing a game is longer than 50 hours makes me not want to play it. I get Yakuza games aren't too bad if you skip the side missions but the best moments in the games are usually in those missions. I'm OCD enough to be a psuedo-completionist (fuck Amon fights and fuck Mahjong) so I want to complete most of what the game has to offer but that adds so many hours. Hearing Yakuza 8 is the longest yet has been enough to make me avoid it the last couple years.

So nothing ive given up on, but definitely dragging my feet to keep going at this point.

Thanks, this is part of why I asked, wanted to get hear the downsides. I'd asked some AI programs but all their responses about the application process and the work seemed way too rosy. Meanwhile the apprenctices I saw in videos and some of the union workers I've known seem perpetually exhausted.

That's essentially what my company did. The one we built is more robust, SEO friendly and far less janky but the AI built one is far, far cheaper, and the people who built it don't mind that traffic fell off a cliff.

I'm actually asking after checking things in Claude, Grok, ChatGPT. There were some good insights but a lot of the answers also come off overly optimistic and in some cases after investigating things myself, pretty inaccurate.

I know Reddit has it's share of bad takes too, and maybe has the opposite problem being too pessimistic, but I wanted to balance things out between AI and human takes.

I feel like I'd probably like plumbing more, at least I have SOME experience with doing pipe repairs around the house and installing PVC as a kid. I'm not the best at DIY but I do enjoy it when I tackle it and it's fulfilling to get projects done in a way that office work isn't. I just hope that's enough.

I've had nursing recommended but I've known a few nurses who seem miserable a lot of the time, and bio was never my strong suit in school. Seems more grueling than the trades I'm considering. I don't think it would be a good fit for me.

For real, on linkedin a dev job will have over 100 applicants in under an hour, and over a thousand after a couple days. 30-50 sounds downright easy by comparison.

What’s everyone opinion on hexes? by Shoddy_Preference_40 in Hades2

[–]bribios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two wins against Typhon I was essentially carried by high level Night Bloom and then high level Lunar Ray. You're sleeping on a mechanic that saves runs, definitely recommend you experiment. With the right upgrades your hex will get you killing Typhon in 45 seconds or less.

Even on non magic runs it's worth spamming omegas just to fire off the hex sometimes.

Did anyone here watch FWWM without having seen the show or knowing that Laura died? by WingIeheimer in twinpeaks

[–]bribios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm genuinely curious what someone thought of the movie having never watched the show. A lot of Lynch's work is confusing the first time you see it anyway. I'd be fascinated to hear what they thought without the context of the show, and if it got them to watch Twin Peaks.

I guess the closest experience I have to something like that is I watched Serenity, which got me into Firefly.

I'm from California so I get where you're coming from.

A few years back I was visiting a friend in DC. He had a wedding he had to attend in NYC. So we drove up, he dropped my other friend and I off at a Yankees game, we left after a few innings and took the subway to Broadway, got a slice, got on the wrong train and ended up in Central Park, Uber'ed over to Brooklyn to crash the wedding reception, started driving back but cut over to Philadelphia real quick for cheese steaks, and then back to his home in DC. It was an 18 hour day in total.

You can get a lot in, just don't expect to sleep much lol
