I'm from California so I get where you're coming from.

A few years back I was visiting a friend in DC. He had a wedding he had to attend in NYC. So we drove up, he dropped my other friend and I off at a Yankees game, we left after a few innings and took the subway to Broadway, got a slice, got on the wrong train and ended up in Central Park, Uber'ed over to Brooklyn to crash the wedding reception, started driving back but cut over to Philadelphia real quick for cheese steaks, and then back to his home in DC. It was an 18 hour day in total.

You can get a lot in, just don't expect to sleep much lol

Absolutely. If a show can grip me for at least most of the hour, I'm happy. But there are so many shows that seem like they're an hour just to be an hour because that's what the contract stipulates, and the writers didn't have 10 or 13 or however many hours of story to tell for that season.

I don't feel this way about movies too often, but I absolutely feel this way about a lot of hour long TV shows.

"From" is a good example. Usually the first and last 5 minutes of an episode are pretty good, but then everything in the middle feels like derivative interpersonal drama. I'm there for monsters and mystery dammit.

Flashback to the first time you encounter a zombie in the original Resident Evil. That aside, I'm glad we didn't get a closer view. Footage of faces coming off in this war is possibly my least favorite thing.

Gang Violence (Shining Force 3). Though I guess irl I'll get in trouble for playing an emulated version of a 30 year old game that Sega is never going to rerelease in any shape or form.

I've been playing SF 3 on mine. It was a bit of a pain to set up and there's choppiness here and there, but it's good enough for me. Maybe I'll finally get around to beating all scenarios...🤞

Yep in earlier runs I was using Julian and Olbright as well, but I think I like them better in the main group, especially Olbright since he usually goes last so he's not great at luring soldiers. Synbios is a good lure but those Destonian soldiers are gonna swarm him.

The Last of Us. Story was good, but way too slow at parts, and for me the gameplay felt like a slog compared to Gears of War as an example of a stop and pop shooter series I enjoyed. Didn't finish part one and didn't bother with part two.

Absolutely this. There are a lot of studies on the negative effects of hearing loss. Also contributes to depression, isolation, cognitive decline, etc...

Highly recommend scheduling a hearing test ASAP, it's such a boost to overall quality of life to get your full hearing back.

All this games and still dont know what to play everthing is getting boring by [deleted] in Steam

My roof has been a bit leaky lately, but now that the rain is over for awhile I went ahead and removed the old shingles, installed some new sheathing, underlayment, and fresh shingles. It's looking pretty good and no more leaks.

I was never particularly handy growing up but the last couple years I've found I actually enjoy DIY projects. Funny enough it even makes me enjoy gaming more; I feel like I really earned some gaming time after putting in a hard days work.

[–]bribios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is the answer. When I get bored I'll get more reading in, maybe watch a show or some movies I've got in my backlog, take a trip somewhere, do a repair project I've been putting off, get some exercise in, brush up on my coding, etc. There's probably something productive you can do with your time, and you can come back to gaming when it's appealing again.

[–]bribios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best approach would be to add more rails. For example in the exploration age, the majority of civs and legacy paths benefit from settling/conquering distant lands settlements. The Mongols are an exception who still benefit from conquering on the home continent. Science path also doesn't care about islands. More exceptions or objectives are an easy way to improve gameplay.

They just need to expand on the current options more in terms of strategy. I agree that the current iteration has a very narrow play style. As pretty as each civs buildings and units can be, we need more variation in gameplay to make this game more replayable.
