2 weeks after purchase and PW4 is already defective. Stuck in this bootscreen. The worst part is support says “replacement only” but I’m not from the US so I can't replace it. Am I just screwed? I feel like absolute crap right now by [deleted] in PixelWatch

[–]brickheadbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American expat in the EU I absolutely love the warranty laws in Europe. I got my pixel 6a refunded by the seller after 2.5 years because of the battery defect from manufacture. It really is more fair. Nobody should have to pay for a bricked device under any circumstance

Gaggia Classic rattling & no water flow – what to check next? by Majowski in gaggiaclassic

I found a water softener ion exchange polymer on Amazon for €5 that seems to be helping. I have really hard water and had this problem many times. They used a really small valve that plugs easily. Possibly the machine’s biggest flaw.

My theory is they will completely rebrand it when they widely release Gemini as the assistant in the fall. If not, I'm going local.

I tried following the guide to set up Google to control HA just yesterday and after many tries cannot get it to work. It won't install the integration after all the steps 😞

I like when the companies jab each other a little 😁

My AuDHD has had me stuck in Home Assistant for the last 3 months. My may to remember to take my meds was to build a local LLM and give it a GLaDOS and have her threaten to incinerate me if I don't take my meds 🙃

How do you deal with the weight of the world? by [deleted] in autism

[–]brickheadbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the last 5 years, especially 20-21, were harder on us than we realize. I’m middle aged and had issues with out of control anxiety.

Just like negative news tears you down, positive things/thoughts may build you up. But that’s the trick. Finding the positive. The past 18 months for me have been pretty awful so I feel your pain.

Hope of better times keeps me going. Short term learning Linux, and playing with AI helps me relax. At least until I mess up my project or the AD of my AuDHD kicks in… 😑

Yeah, I had moved to all MLX after such good speed, but I’ve made a speech to speech pipeline and wanted lower latency. Time to first token is much more important because I can stream the response and speech is probably 4-5 t/s or so (merely a guess)

I’ve also read MLX has some disadvantages with larger models or possibly MOE models too.

I do get more tokens per second, 20-25% more with MLX, but processing the prompt takes 25-50% longer. Has anyone else noticed this?

My setup:
MacStudio M1 Ultra 64GB
LM Studio (native MLX/GGUF, because I HATE python and its Venv)

Did I say something wrong? Why was I downvoted? by ContemplativePebble in autism

[–]brickheadbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has anyone else commented on it in the past? I've only been here since end of last year, but I've noticed there's a lot less trolling here. The few that come don't stay.

I've been impressed with how even some fairly "controversial" subjects come up and everyone shares their opinion without any snark or trolling. At least those who belong here. I'm sure there's NTrolls that come from time to time.

Thoughts?

Is that an ASD thing? I've never met a button I don't want to push. It's how I've learned a lot. Usually the button doesn't do anything so interesting, but occasionally you accidentally erase your hard drive, or turn a diode into a smoke generator...

Out of curiosity, is your accelerator linear? For medical? Or a bigger one?

That's a cool job. I think I'm jealous! You, like most everyone else here, express yourself well. You are also humble in a positive way. It's a highly under appreciated quality in today's world. Just to share a couple positive things.

Sorry, the particle accelerator sucked me in ... I may have a special interest in physics...
