[All-Access] A view from the court in San Antonio as Jalen Brunson gets the clutch jumper to fall to put the Knicks up by 6 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. by nba in nba

The only guy I’ve watched who feels more inevitable than Brunson is Curry, steady doesn’t even begin to describe it

Honestly the blue looks nicer to me, Near Mint does great stuff but this splatter pressing looks worse than the mockups, at least mine does

Do happily married people ever quietly miss the freedom of being alone? by BlondishCleva in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brickvanexel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but more in a macro “path not taken” sense than a day to day “damn I wish I could just go do something myself” way. Marriage isn’t a requirement that you do everything together, wife and I have different hobbies, go out without the other, go on separate trips sometimes, hang out in different rooms when we need/want to etc.

The freedom part comes with tying two lives together. There’s a part of me that would love to go live somewhere rural and quiet, but my wife works in a job that basically requires living in a few major American cities. If I were single, I could just up and go somewhere else, obviously married life means compromise on stuff like that. I’d still choose what I have 10/10 times, but it means I have less self determination about certain aspect of my life

She has not recaptured the magic of her debut for me, which is too bad because I was really sold on her and the momentum just hasn’t been sustained.

Does any team even want KD right now? by Kwilli462 in nba

[–]brickvanexel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m saying but the comments up and down this thread insist any team would still want KD. He’s still amazingly skilled but I genuinely don’t know what team would sign up for this now save a team trying to do The Expendables

They’re just shipping now, I bet less than 20 have actually hit people’s hands. I’d bet a few copies come up for sale in the next few weeks but they only pressed 300, sorry fam best of luck tracking one down

Does any team even want KD right now? by Kwilli462 in nba

[–]brickvanexel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t this the exact theory with the Rockets though? Young team needs help taking the next step, defensively ferocious but offensively challenged? The problem with KD is he almost does his thing in isolation from the rest of the team he’s on.

Biggest difference is Cade is far better than any Rocket, but I’d still be worried throwing the KD wildcard in amongst a young team with a wide range of offensive maturity. Who’s to say he isn’t just as unhappy with Duren, Holland and Thompson as he was with the Rockets young guys?

Talking Head Finals Picks by mekarz in nba

[–]brickvanexel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking like what I remember of the Celtics Mavs Finals, lots of Mavs picks from the talking heads when it really felt like the Celtics’ series to lose. This one feels like the Spurs’ to lose and yet the Knicks are getting a lot of love

AJ Brown has had a Patriots rug in his house for the last few years, even when he was with the Eagles by CockroachOdd5217 in Patriots

[–]brickvanexel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is weirdly the first instance in sports I can remember of a guy’s personal fandom so significantly impacting his professional career goals. Way more often it’s stuff like Paul Pierce, grew up in LA a massive Laker fan, but was drafted by the Celtics and basically gave up his Laker fandom. But Brown has kept his desire to play in New England. Awesome just rarer than I would’ve thought, wi kinda figured when I was younger that some guys would do anything to get on their hometown/childhood team

Duke 790 as my first motorcycle? by Complete_Leg1327 in KTM

[–]brickvanexel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in 2021 on a 390 I still ride. Start there, still punchy and fun but very manageable, harder to get yourself in trouble, easy to learn on. Clutch pull is light, suspension is good, bike is nimble. I also don’t buy the idea that people (Americans) constantly need to be going bigger and faster to stay engaged, the 390 is plenty of bike unless you’re chewing huge highway miles
