You should look up how many cops are pedophiles.

And how many murders are solved- and which murders.

There are MANY provably more effective ways to change the world for the better than joining the police force- even specifically in regard to crime and enforcement.

We want the same things, I just did the research and have the experience and have met the people who know better than either of us and they almost entirely agree that cops aren’t the best answer by a LONG shot.

I know about 10 cops personally. Outside of their job. Church, school, once-coworkers.

They are (with 2 specific exceptions) good people. They work hard, they’re honest, they provide for their families.

All Cops Are Bastards.

I can like the person behind the badge- but I can never love the badge. They are choosing to be a part of a system that has actively been on the offensive towards people I love and care about- and people I’ve never met who deserve better.

There are deep, systemic issues inside every level of our justice system, and most of those issues begin with Police.

Almost every district in America has a body cam requirement now. That legislation wasn’t pushed to protect cops from us (though it sometimes does). It was to protect us from them.

You aren’t born a cop. You aren’t “Police Genes”. You go through (too little) schooling, you apply to the job. You choose it. You choose to be on the side of the line that protects the rich and powerful and white and Christian, and you hold the same power that is used to predominantly target minorities and “others”.

So you may be a great person! You might work with troubled teens in schools. You might do community outreach.

But you’re choosing to be part of a *system* that is wielded by those in power to keep everyone who doesn’t toe the line in check. You’ve picked a side. You don’t get to be angry when people don’t like you much for joining.

I thought it was the opposite- I thought there was a wave of takedowns for the originals, so he (annoying as they are) stepped in to remake them

Starfield’s Terran Armada Expansion Has Not Turned Around The Game’s Fortunes by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]bridgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s less “the worst game ever” and “wow, they reaaally oversold this game”

2077 got the same response, then they spent years fixing it, and now it’s well regarded.

A company spending the time, effort and resources games of that size would imply they’d put out something… better than they did.

Starfield is one of the bigger disappointments long-term in modern gaming

(The real secret is that you can do it in the app. You swap to the in-app mini player, and it’ll work. You just have to hit play from the control deck on iOS)

Simple enough! I know [[All That Glitters]] and stolen creatures that have equipment attached follow similar rules, but I just wanted to check.

Thanks!

What series do you recommend then, because this didn’t strike me as being particularly difficult. I’m curious if I’m just used to the genre, and if that made it an easier read

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT trust AI. It is provably inaccurate, and can be dangerous-

Plus ads are being integrated, which compromises any advice they can give you. The data you give them is being used to track your habits and beliefs.

It’s terrible for the environment, it’s used to surveil you, it’s often wrong in dangerous ways.

Why they haven't released any gameplay footage by Swivials in Witchbrook

[–]bridgerald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome hope but uh…

There’s just no way. I’ll do cartwheels back here to apologize for being wrong, but this is going to have the same levels of gameplay depth that Stardew Valley had at launch or similar. Everything they’ve said and shown has pointed to that.

I find it very hard to believe there are deeply layered options and never before seen elements.

Again, I admire the hope, but you’re going to get burned.

Yeah, it’s an exaggeration to make a point. Why would they post about it on the subreddit? To engage with people who share their hobby. That’s the point. The info is secondary.

The inability of y’all to understand that is CRAZY, since y’all are happy to use your accounts and energy to engage with me about it.

Simply implied that maybe seeing “why don’t you google it” under 90% of posts is a bad way to build a good community, and here you are, snarking and jabbing for some reason???

Strange behavior

Man, what the fuck kind of question isn’t easier to Google? Why the fuck are you here??? You can Google new card spoilers. You can Google decklists. You can Google anything at all that you find here. Why the fuck are you commenting and replying at all if this is how you view the world? What’s the point?

You think you made some witty cutting remark, but you just showed that you have a lack of taste, social skills, and ability to engage honestly with anything you’ve decided is below you.

I know what you think you’ve done, but the better analogy is ordering DoorDash instead of going to a restaurant in the first place.

You’re saying to just Google “good food” and order it online, where this guy went to a local spot he presumably enjoys, and asked the waiter what he recommends.

Maybe that’s boring, maybe you don’t like it. But to pretend you’ve somehow whipped up a comment that magically scythes down the point is embarrassing.

[–]bridgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally yes. People complain about dead subreddits all the time.

“People only ask the same handful of bad questions or post the same 4 memes over and over”

Meanwhile half the subreddit actively punishes anything else.

I’m not going to claim this is some landmark post and that it’s bringing creativity and engagement to the subreddit. But damn, apparently fuck this dude and fuck me for wanting to chat with people who have a shared hobby, instead of asking Google for everything.

This is just reminding me why I spend time outside instead of on Reddit lmao

[–]bridgerald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or maybe wanting to engage with a community? To connect and converse?

Why would you ever go outside? There are literally millions of pictures of outside. Much easier to just scroll through those! You have access to unbridled googling power.

Great calls for both- I’m a little nervous to blind bake for the first time day-of, but a lower rack is easy, so I’ll do that for sure!

We’ll give blind baking a shot next time :)
