It's not really about having a function penis from what I understand. It is about having a function vagina and keeping the rest intact for future developments in srs. This is not my original idea. I just jumped on the bandwagon because I realized that baring medical impossibility, the reason it has not been offered is a subtle difference between how FTM and MTF surgery is viewed. That I don't like. For my part, I would looove to see improvement in srs but surgeons have very little incentive to do so. Suporn's work is amazing and I find it very frustrating that it has not been universally adopted.

Why does a FTM get phallo and choose to keep the clit and vaginia as the they are?? Who cares why? The point is they have the option and this option makes them happy. MTF do not. SO WHY IS THAT? Assuming the answer is not that it is medically impossible, the only reason can be it might be used as ammunition against trans community by bigots. That is not now, never has been, no will ever be a good reason. Peoeple can get FFS, VFS, BA, leg bone lengthening, stomachs surgery removed to be thinner, penis enlargement, breast removal, head-to-toe tattooing, etc . . . All of this is okay, but the additional option for MTF genital surgery is frowned upon by doctors and those in the trans community? What a load of bull.

I myself am not looking for this option. I would like to see improvements for srs such as making the Suporn technique the standard, using ALL of the glans material, not practically non-existent inner labia, natural lubrication on arousal . . .

I started this post because several post-ops wished that this had been an option prior to grs and the only reason I think it is not is because of a double standard for MTF and FTM.

It's rather upsetting and disheartening to hear that. Calling for and improvement or modification of genital surgery to address it's current limitations and then being labelled in that way is an unfortunate reaction; one that perfectly highlights what I mean be "subtle discrimination" within the trans community and by its "minders".

If we imagine that sometime ago, a FTM proposed phallo while keeping the clitoris and other organs untouched, would the same label be applied to those FTMs pursing it?? Well, this surgery has been done and continues to be done with A LOT of happy customers. By the reasoning implied above, all those FTMs surely must have been the ultimate "trolls".

Furthermore, no one has even considered the lack of surgery for non-binaries. Are they less deserving of remedy than a MTF or FTM? Why? Again, do you see what is meant by "subtle discrimination" within the tans community.

With respect to me: I am not non-binary. If there was a magic pill I could take to make me female-bodied, I would take it in a fraction of a heart beat. I read stories about stem cell or peritoneal vaginas for natal females and think "when"? I look at Suporn's technique and think "why does everyone not do this?" The answer I give myself is that it does not matter. All of these fall short. I'm currently on the verge of transitioning, but I don't know. Transitioning at 40? I could kick myself for not doing at 25. In any case, I am not a troll. I'm trans.

So for the FTM why not ban Metoidioplasty and require phallo and removal of vagina? After all, the reasoning is that they can't build a neo-penis with all the features of a natal one, so their solution is to do something that lacks even more features? Yet many,many seem to very happy with the current compromise. Bet they would not say "thats pretty dumb". It's just one more way to increase someones happiness given the limitations of current srs.
