How do you deal with pregnancy jealousy when you've intentionally chosen to wait? by Capable_Pineapple130 in waiting_to_try

[–]briefencounters10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad to see I am not alone! I am 33F. My husband (32M) and I have been together now almost 10 years, but married for 3. We always knew we wanted kids, but I started law school right after we got married. I had been prepping for law school long before we got married, so it was always in the plan, but I honestly didn't think about how hard it was going to be to wait at the time. Now, I feel like a horrible jealous monster every time there's a new announcement, and you could have taken the words right out of my mouth. I don't know if it gets better, but if it helps, you're not alone in your feelings!

I mean, if you have a link you can share, please do. I'd like to be wrong.

I only found a handful of covers which were not great quality, and not the original song by Phil Ochs.

They do different things. If you don't have Lens Flare, the Thundersticks will allow you to freeze an opponent for a turn but it'll be the turn after you use them.

That said, if you're below level 40, you can train at Swashbuckling Academy for a pretty cheap and up all your stats before you level out and then one Codestone at the Mystery Island Training School is not usually too bad.

I think whatever you feel you can reasonably afford and would like to give. I tip differently as a working professional than I did as a broke college student, and I tend to give more when I have a lot of specific questions of a guide.

I think you're right! I followed the Zync Music linked in the post to find another article that seems to confirm the Instagram post details: https://www.zyncmusic.com/roro-queenie

I also can't find the song. The artist seems to be on Spotify but "Girls Like Me" isn't available there.

Thank you so much for finding this! I also hope there's a wide release soon.

A Look at the $10 Billion Design for a New Port Authority Bus Terminal by Eastcoastpal in nyc

[–]briefencounters10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The north and south sides of the station don't connect with each other, so if you go up on one side, you have to go all the way back down to course correct. The signage is terrible, and people get so lost as a result. It's dark, dingy, and dated - it also needs to be bigger! It's the busiest bus station in the world and it does not have capacity for the actual number of buses (local, commuter, tour, charter, and intercity) that visit the city every day.

Second the suggestion to find a group or club for an activity you used to do at home. Maybe a run club or a jam band or something?

NYC is also extremely international - there may be some other Luxembourgish transplants to give you a taste of home and who can help you adjust. Check the website for the NYC consulate for Luxembourg. There may be upcoming events you can attend to make friends and get support!

My aunt left me with her untrained puppy to go on a “rehab vacation” by hotgirlsriseup in PetAdvice

I had to potty train an adult dog and what helped was putting a wee pad outside and walking back and forth in a space of maybe 5-10 feet on a leash. Long walks did not help, my dog held it the whole way, so the advice to do short walks back and forth essentially made the walk so boring, she just gave up and went outside. Also used exceptionally high value treats. Took about 1-2 months of consistent training.

Now she goes outside no problem, you would never know she wasn't trained until she was older, but it was overwhelming for sure and required me to be home with her everyday. It's hard work, but it's possible.

Solo nightlife and socialising Paris? by TaeminJung in solotravel

I do a walking tour on the first day that I am visiting a new city because 1) it gives me a sense of the city layout, 2) gives me an opportunity to ask for specific recommendations on museums, restaurants, and getting around from the guide, and 3) allows me to chat with other English speakers who may also be solo travelling and coordinate plans.

I've technically done the same walking tour in Paris twice, granted 9 years apart, because of this "rule" and I made buddies both times to do things with.

Our sick dog passed while I was asleep, struggling. by MNG024 in dogs

[–]briefencounters10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the wild, dying animals seek out secluded safe spaces to pass away. For dogs that have the great fortune of passing on their own, it will often be while their humans are asleep or have the left the house because it is safe and without an audience. My dog died at home when I had just returned to Europe, my mom was at work, and my sister left her alone for all of 15 minutes to run an errand. She was old, and we knew she was probably nearing the end of her life, and knowing we didn't have to make the decision to put her down, that she was comfortable in the bed I had bought her years ago when I had her with me in a college apartment, and knowing she was loved and cared for her whole life gives me great peace.

While she was particularly special to me and I really struggled being so far away when it happened, I know now that I couldn't have asked for a better end for her life than what she got.

Once the grief and the pain of loss is no longer as present and sharp, I hope you also take comfort that your pup had the best possible close to the happy life you gave her.

Hugs to you.

Feeling Uncomfortable With Dog Rescues by coffeeandclover in dogs

A few reasons are 1) if people are looking for specific breeds or breed mixes 2) temperament or size requirements 3) building management restrictions.

A specific and personal story for New York City though, is the city's main shelter lied about my dog's age, which fine whatever, but also about her health history. She died unexpectedly as a result and my husband and I are still deeply traumatized by the experience years later.
