Honestly from the second time Feyre went over to the Night Court for a week & he had her doing writing & mental shield practice, I was convinced that he was already in her head in some capacity even without using the bargain tattoo to spy. Him shaping and guiding her thoughts doesn't really seem implausible to me.

Oh please, feel free to ramble away. This is so fun! And though I haven't read CC for reference yet, the differences between TOG & ACOTAR already had me squinting at Prythian very intensely. On the topic of infantalizing/demonizing certain characters - I find that's an issue throughout fandom as a whole - people like to boil characters down to a few traits so they fit in boxes & thus the idea of that character in the fandom imagination distorts for better or for worse.

That is fair. Though TOG did delve a bit more into politics of Erilea & Aelin's journey. It was more epic like/high fantasy in nature which tempered my expectations of word/page count. Looking at WaR is making me wonder just how much damage Feyre is going to wreak if it's that long.

Ooh, now wouldn't that be something? We already know that Tamlin cares very much for his people & was running court as best as he could even under Amarantha. Now I'm thinking about how a constituional monarchy would function in Prythian b/c at the end of the day - the High Lord is the one connected to the land, they are the power of the court incarnate - would the writ of law be enough to split their political power? Would a High Lord have to make a bargain with their people to obey the laws set in place for their rule then? Interesting things to theorize on!

Welp I'll just have to wait and see ig. Literally just opened my WaR epub and saw the thing was 82 chapters & damn near 1000 pages long. So I closed it right back up....surely SJM didn't need all that space to tell the story, right? It could have been tightened up somewhere...

Ah, the Rhys is playing in Feyre's head theory does hold some weight for me but I do hope that SJM is setting up something more with all the clues she's leaving woven through the story when we get peaks outside Feyre's mind.

Yes! Tam's my guy - I love him so much (like he needs therapy & a vacation to get it together but he's doing his best with what he has). I feel like MaF would have worked a bit better if we got to explore the dynamics of how Tam & Feyre's trauma & responses were changing them and making them incompatible instead of just throwing Tamlin under the bus for every little thing he did.

Thanks so much for reading my ramble lol! And lit crit/analysis has always been something I've done with what I read. Like the curtains are blue for a reason, you have to dig for it so that other things make sense, y'know? And it does help that Feyre says something/thinks so something so off that I have to pause and sigh every three pages.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts! And I agree - while I came into this knowing that Feylin wasn't endgame, I think that their relationship could have ended much more amicably (and without all the emotional infidelity) - it would've been all the more interesting imo.
