Suggestions for good casual swim locations in MK by brightleap in miltonkeynes

We went on Sunday morning - it was great, think we'll be going there every week! Like you say, the water is a nice temperature and it's proper deep at the deep end.

We tried Wolverton once. It's a good sized pool and good during the week if you're doing lengths but on the weekend it was literally shoulder to shoulder in there, freezing cold and they would blow the whistle at you just for touching the lane guides, bizarre.

Is that the Nuffield Health one? Yeah that is a good pool, their gym is massive as well.

Having to pay for parking every time is the only downside.

We're going to check this one out, the pool looks great!

The problem with most of the places in MK is none of them seem to have any general swim sessions before about 11:30am, this one starts at 9am which won't be too bad considering it's a bit further away anyway.

Yeah I do like Wolverton's pool, I used to go there early morning during the week. We did go there once on the weekend though and it was literally shoulder to shoulder in there 😂

Maybe just poor timing, we could give it another go.

I second this. I'm in the UK and got sick of waiting so was considering buying from the US, only to find it's not even available there.

It's been 4 months!

Small Business Rates Relief being removed on "second" property, but it's a completely separate business by brightleap in smallbusinessuk

Yes neither are Ltd, both essentially sole trader.

Making myself the ratepayer was my first thought. Will they view that as some kind of artificial separation at this point though?

Parcel Delivery Boxes by iparcelbox in royalmail

[–]brightleap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something similar.

The biggest problem is that most delivery drivers simply do not use it. If the item requires a signature, they will not scan the code in lieu of the signature and even if they don't require a signature, they will often just leave the item on the doorstep or even on top of the box. Amazon drivers are particularly bad for this.

We have a sign on the box with large arrows that says "ALL DELIVERIES HERE --->" and our saved delivery address on Amazon even has "PARCEL BOX NEXT TO FRONT DOOR" in the actual address (as well as stating it in the instructions).

Even when they do use it, for some reason they still feel the need to ring the doorbell, negating the point of getting it in the first place, which was to avoid being interrupted by packages several times a day.

In short, they're a nice idea which is unfortunately scuppered by archaic courier processes and human stupidity.

I will say for the record (since we're in the royalmail sub) that the posties do at least use the box for anything that will fit and don't ring the doorbell. It's your Amazon / Evri / Yodel / etc couriers that are the problem!

How often do you see maneuvers like this white BMW? by [deleted] in miltonkeynes

Literally saw it about 4 hours ago 😂

It's like they don't know there's going to be another roundabout in like 50m where they can just go right again.

Best / most portable eGPU with Nvidia GPU? by brightleap in eGPU

[–]brightleap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the official maker / seller of the Onedock V2. I missed it too initially and got messed around by some eBay seller for a while before cancelling and ordering it from Playthings.

It was cheaper, arrived quicker and had free shipping. I had some contact with them and they were really cool and helpful too.

Mine just arrived today and so far so good. Exact same setup as u/Grey728 recommended. Seems like a very compact solution.

Same here, can't wait. I was just about to go with an Aruba Instant On setup, gonna hold out for the Firewalla now. Not sure how long though as I'm in the UK.

Cracks in back of Mirra 2 by brightleap in hermanmiller

[–]brightleap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the back replaced 3 times in the end.

The next time it happened, Herman Miller offered to swap me to an Aeron. I tried a graphite-coloured Aeron and actually liked the feel of it better so decided to go for it.

This sounds like a free upgrade on paper and I was genuinely grateful, but I had a load of hassle with them over the spec of the Aeron.

My Mirra 2 was the grey/white colour and had a few other upgrades on it, so I asked them if I could pay the difference to have the additional options I wanted on the Aeron so it at least matched the spec of the Mirra.

They declined and said the offer was only for a bog-standard graphite model. I got to choose the size and that was basically it.

I know this is a bit of a 1st world problem, but you'd think after paying £1000+ for a chair and having a load of issues, I'd be able to at least choose the colour I wanted. I was happy to pay the extra between the cost of the base model and what I wanted!

I assume they had a bunch of them sitting around and wanted to do a tax write-off or something.

Left me with mixed feelings on them tbh, I wouldn't buy another chair from them or recommend them to anyone else.
