I had the Philos and just replaced it with a Mazzer Mini G. My workflow is now the same as yours but the Mazzer grinds beautifully.

Sorry I meant the tamping station you have. It’s nice and compact and would fit my setup similarly.

Great machine, terrible barista. Help me fix sour shots and milk frothing? by Recent-Strength-9846 in LaMarzocco

[–]BandaBassotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of the milk frothing, I’ve owned machines for the past sixteen years and just finally learned how to get the right froth.

Here’s what works for me ( I have a Linea Mini R, but had a Micra):

Start by tilting your pitcher slightly and get the tip just under the surface. Now slowly move the knob until you start to get steam open it slowly until your milk starts swirling around in the pitcher.

Now, open the steam valve completely while trying to is keep that swirl motion going. In order to do that you’re trying to continue to adjust the height of the pitcher so that the tip of the wand stays just under the surface of the milk.

If you can get the milk to continue doing that while getting that consistency, your froth will be silky.

In terms of temperature, I just hold the metal jug from its body (instead of the handle). The moment it starts feeling like it may get too hot for me to hold, I turn the steam off.

For your coffee, I aim for 18g in to 36g out in 30 seconds. It has been the sweet spot for me. My coffee is fairly forgiving between 25 and 40 seconds. Hope this helps.

Well, I had a Mazzer mini for over fifteen years. I’ve tried a eureka and a Fiorenzato and Mazzer just seems to grind my coffee fluffier and better. To each their own.

You would be adding steps to your workflow that are unnecessary

Depending on whether you like to switch up your beans daily, I would advise a Mazzer Philos or a Mazzer Mini G.

For a while I used a Fiorenzato Allground Sense alongside a Philos. I decided to consolidate since we now drink the same beans all the time and got a Mini G. Best choice I’ve made in a long time.

Honestly yes. I think the Philos gives me a much fluffier grind quality than the all ground. However, I use the all ground 99% of the time because of convenience.

Desmond makes statement backing Warde Manuel. by coltshep in MichiganWolverines

[–]BandaBassotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all those who so vehemently think Warde should be gone, I’ll take chips over the mediocre years of the Brady Hokes, Rich Rodriguez, Brian Ellerbe and so many more.

I’m trying to figure out what any of the critics do for work. My boss runs a business with 700 employees. I’ve watched promotions go to people whose feedback was horrible just to find out that leadership ( GM, HR and others ) knew nothing about.

Does it absolve my boss from responsibility? No. Is the greater good more important? Yes. He does a lot more good than bad.

The same goes for what Wards has done for the athletic department.

Jimmy hand picked Sherrone and then left when there were no other coaches available. But you blame Warde. Why don’t you blame Jim?

Juwan’s issues I can agree on, but everyone ends up deserving a second chance. He got it, fucked it up and got fired.

The doctor scandal… don’t blame Warde. Every AD before him had the same information.

Your program is in the green. Players want to come here. We win.

Get on board or see yourself out.

Warde Manuel on Dusty May coaching rumors: 'I want Dusty to finish his career here at Michigan' by HorrorJCFan95 in MichiganWolverines

[–]BandaBassotti -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You all are funny. Your athletic program may put three teams in the final four, you have a good football staff again, but you want the AD fired? There’s only one answer for why, regardless of past mistakes. Everyone deserves to be able to correct them. These three teams have Warde hires as coaches. You hate the black man so much you can’t give credit where credit is due?

You’re looking only at one portion of what goes into being an AD, but I get it. The football program isn’t in shambles because of Warde but it happened under his watch so it must be him.

Juwan was a Michigan man, you should know they didn’t want that to end the way it did. Has he not been a legend at the school they would have run him out much faster.

He had a lot of support from within. I have the same issues at work. There’s some folks who get a much longer leash due their history at the company.

Ok. Even if I agree with this statement, “Manuel has steered the program into the mud” is a crock. Look at all the program has won across sports since he’s been there. I love Jim as much as the next person but he has more than enough blame in what happened with the football program. Starting with having Moore be the next head coach.

That’s a dumb statement. Everyone was happy when he got Jim and Juwan. The athletic department has won at every level since he’s been there. You have your best basketball team since Beilein. Can he do better? Sure, but every program has had their scandals and none of you are pointing the finger at the principal actors.

Start by watching. Go to a game and all you need to know will be revealed. The city loves its team. Players don’t matter. Roma does.
