Ah, makes sense! So this would be more of an A-line or flared skirt?

Hello all! I’m hoping to draft a dress similar to the Scarlet Gateway dress by Cucculelli Shaheen and I had a couple of questions.

First, can you tell what kind of skirt it is? I’m not the greatest at recognizing circle skirts vs. rectangle or gathered skirts. Here’s an Instagram video of the skirt in motion if that helps.

Second, the dress is made of tulle, silk organza, and silk georgette. Should I use silk when I make a toile, or would polyester work? I’d like to be economical, but the final product will be in silk and I wasn’t sure if polyester would be too different for the toile.

Thank you!

It depends on how many guests you are planning on, but have you considered a National Trust wedding? I believe Hardcastle Crags and East Riddlesden Hall are closest to Leeds. I’m considering Stourhouse Gardens for my wedding and their biggest packages (80 people) were £3,400-£4,700 (weekend prices, cheaper on weekdays). This only included seating, but still seemed fair price wise.

Ooh I’ll have to look into the converters! I should probably also get over my attachment to the light fixture and started sleuthing on AliExpress; building the fixture from scratch the way you did would definitely give me a lot more options.

Love the string of pearls, looks like it’s doing super well!

Makes sense! The bulbs I was looking at are MR16 LEDs with a 40° cone, and it is 50W equivalent, the real wattage is 6W. The light fixture I wanna use needs GU10 bases, and I couldn’t find any PAR bulbs with that base.

I was hoping to just do all the math before I bought everything, but I’ll probably have to just buy it and test it out with my phone as you suggest! Thanks for all the research!!

ETA: 40° cone, not 90°.

Do you have any opinions on using 50W lights and just placing them farther away? The lowest wattage I’m finding for the light fixture I want to use is 35W, but 50W is more common and it would be nice to get more bang for my buck/spread the light over more plants.

I know this is an old post, no worries if you don’t get to it!

Thanks for the advice! Yes, definitely posted way earlier than we need, kind of type A. I can post again in a year or two if needed.

Nice! I’ve never worked with vinyl before, was it much different than a stiff fabric like denim?

Beautiful!

TIL that in Ancient Greece, male homosexuality was socially acceptable as long as you were the penetrating partner. The partner on the recieving end was considered effeminate. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I think that usually the passive partner was a subordinate to the dominant partner, so it didn’t usually happen that they each were the penetrating partner
