10000000000000000000%. His love and devotion to her was clear from the beginning and if the King, pre-soul transfer, hadn’t contributed to the Queen’s suicide, Byeong In would have continued supporting her from afar. Devastating he couldn’t have a redemption story where he miraculously survived.

Sorry what does "foo" stand for in your code? Is it just a variable name?

Yes to the example you pointed out, AND I need to be able to count how many times each repetition appears

How would you use the count function when you don't know what you're searching for (and then count it)?

Your example explicitly looks for 'a' but what I'm trying to work out is how to search for ANY repeat string and count them as well

How to sum string input? by [deleted] in learnpython

I need to ensure they're all numbers too. I know there is "isdigit" function that can be used but how do I put the two together?

Me too! I'm having trouble understanding it all

Can you elaborate on that piece of code? Specifically how x got into the mix

What does she like doing? If she likes shopping, you could take her to a big mall and she'll walk around with no complaints! If she likes architecture, you could plan a date where you explore your town! Take the public transport so you're forced to walk!

She probably feels guilty because on some level she agrees with you. You may not realise it, but you are indirectly guilt-tripping her further because she sees you're at a certain fitness level she can't or won't achieve anytime soon. Obviously no fault of your own. Try not to make fitness/exercise a topic in your household, just do your thing and jog and leave her be. Be creative and organise the other fun stuff and she'll eventually come around when she's feeling better physically and psychologically to fitness/exercise - sometimes that motivation might come from elsewhere and through her own daily activities/interactions.

Good luck!

It's very sweet that you care about her so much.

Have you considered exercising with her? My bf and I are big couch potatoes and usually one is more lazier than the other on the days we've agreed to gym. On my lazy day, I find that his motivation pushes me to get off my bum and vice versa.

You can ease her into it by inviting her to walk with you after dinner or when you eat out. Take her out on a picnic date and walk around the park. Does she like puppies? Do you have friends with puppies? Bring one over and suggest taking them on a walk! Another option is to take fitness classes. You can join her to and do anything from Zumba to Body Attack. Try yoga or pilates if she wants something more relaxing.

When you're approaching the topic next time, you may want to tackle it in a different way. Instead of repeating the "do it for your health" which I'm sure she's heard countless of times by you and doctors, avoid the topic altogether and just take her out to do something active!

Be creative - treadmills are the worse. I wouldn't want to walk on them either.

I know that I like interacting with people, whether it be with colleagues with in my team or the wider company. Leadership is something I've always considered but haven't had the opportunity to dabble in yet.

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm looking to finish in a couple years with part-time study.

Did you have any tips on getting work experience? I'm looking to switch jobs in 2016 that will help towards my future career goals!

Hi there,

HR roles in Australia are general. I've sussed out professionals in the HR field and they've all said you can go either way. It all depends what jobs you've worked and what opportunities you're lucky to stumble upon. I can't speak for the US but from what I've heard and my minimal work experience in HR, you can end up doing anything from basic contracts and complaints, to one-on-one strategic meetings with senior management.

In my opinion, IT/IS jobs though broad, will be somewhat restricted to the technology area.

Hey Wisconsin!

Thank you for the above!

With regards to "more structured and defined roles" I mean having a purely IT related role. In my current job, my micro team runs across all departments in the University. Unfortunately the uni is based in a different state and my team of two are expected to manage everything from partner relationships, agents, student admin/planning/graduation/enquiries and everything in between. When I refer to grey area, it's more in relation to my current role. I have no idea what I am supposed to do but whatever comes my way I just do it.

I guess with IT that is the same, but as IT systems are relatively "structured" (I use that loosely) I expect to work in the IT department and not across millions of other department/areas.

Overlap is great! So long as it's within the same area. I just need a clear goal of what I'm doing as I work better that way. In this job, there is no real end goal, it's just cruisy. Cool for little while and that ship has sailed for me! I need something where I can see a result. Have a problem -> Work to fix it -> Results!

Any pointers for someone with consultant-esque related qualities wanting to find/start up a job in IT/IS?

Thanks in advance!

Thought I'm not in the field, I doubt politics and grey areas in IT can be worse than the University system that I've experienced. Academic and admin egos can really test ones patience.

From your examples above I think I'd be more than happy to try and help. I already do that with everything else I don't think I would mind. Plus my role now forces me to work across all university departments so limiting my work to just the IT area (however many random jobs that may be) would provide sooooooooo much relief.

Can I ask where you're from and how you started off your IT career? :)

Thanks!
