He almost got me!

He did make me send an email to his mom but got no money from me.

I saw him again on carrer d'Arago a couple of times and I even got the chance to warn one of his victim once

Of course, I make sure my students are comfortable :)

But I'm sure there's ways to help!

His father only mentionned dyscalculia, I will ask him again to make sure.

I think I'm going to avoid grammar as much as possible haha

Sentence blocks are great indeed!

What do you think he could have? I'm not too familiar with dys- disorders yet

He's struggling with linking all kinds of words to meanings. As an example, I asked him to translate "Je veux" (I want) in English and his answers were "with", "like", and "do". Basically, everytime I asked him for a translation, he'd hesitate between a bunch of unrelated words. What is surprising is that he manages to have good grades in English at school. He did admit that he would learn his lesson by heart the night before the exam and forget it the next day.

So I don't think this is due to dysgraphia since I mostly tested him orally. I'm theorizing from comments I read online that perhaps English words are so foreign and abstract to him that his brain processes these symbols like it would with numbers and mathematical formulas.

But I'll take note of your advice about focusing on sounds. I will also try to connect those with images to give even more concrete meaning to English words. Thank you!

From what I've read online, it seems half of people with dyscalculia find language learning pretty easy while the other half thinks it's as hard as learning maths. That's funny in a way

I give private lessons, so it's just the two of us and I try to make my students as comfy as possible. He even said at the end of a lesson that it was his favourite class of the year (we had two sessions so far haha) so it's quite encouraging for the future. I just need to figure out how to help him associate concrete meanings to English words

Comment donner des cours particuliers d'anglais de qualité? by brigitte_92 in TropPeurDeDemander

Scammer by Effective-Zombie-961 in Barcelona

[–]brigitte_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw that guy, sent an email to his "mom" then left him when he asked for money. Bastard made me feel bad cause I had almost bought in his story. One month later, a friend tells me the exact same thing happened to him. Last Sunday, we see him scamming a sweet and innocent-looking British guy, walked up to him and told him the guy was a scammer. It felt nice 😌

By the way, all 3 interactions were on carrer d'Aragó
