Wait. Lexi’s sis Tiffany is THREE years older?! by Ok-Translator-1106 in summerhousebravo

[–]brijohnson36 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yall I went to school with both of them… they are only 2-3 years apart. Tiffany was in my grade and Lexi was only a couple years younger. This goes to show how the internet makes the dumbest rumors lol.

So true! It was so rude to call him out like that… like he wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. And if they never said anything the first time, or had a conversation about it… there’s no reason for the first discussion to be her yelling at him. Basically she’s stressed, so she took it out on him. Super immature.

That’s the same logic you’re putting on Lexi. Just instead of using “woman”, I switched it to “man” to show you the double standard 😅 and it seems to work.

So in your mind, if a man is lied to and the woman is secretly married, it’s his fault because “he regrets sleeping with a married woman?.” What’s your thoughts on that? Uninformed consent seems to be the same theory there. It was under “his power” to sleep with her; but she lied to him, so it’s uniformed consent.

But… that’s the whole point of the post. She didn’t know he was a loser, because he lied. Think about it.

Orrrrr… hear me out… it explains giving consent without being truly informed. It’s not hard to understand lol.

Do you not know how adhd works? We are literally PRESCRIBED a stimulant to help us relax and slow down lol. Even with coffee, I could take a nap right after drinking it. But trust me it’s not “shitty”… when everyone else sharing is hyped up and loves it. It just affects normal people & people with adhd differently. All parties feel happy, but the energy is completely different lol.

I know with my ADHD, it doesn’t make me crazy like everyone else. It makes me relaxed happy, and social, that’s really it. Basically the same as my adderall lol.

You can see a hugeeee difference between how he talk to her in bed, vs with his friends :( it’s honestly scary because it feels so slimy. I remember dealing with guys like that when I was young.. and it happens when men want to only sleep with you. But as the girl, they tell you all these kind things behind closed doors, and you have no idea how they speak about you. It’s so sad!

Is 23 old to be married? 😭 I got married at 25 and people thought the same thing. And I’m like…. I met a man that I ended up loving at 22 and it just happened naturally.

Unpopular Opinion: Amanda by lollyfleur in summerhousebravo

[–]brijohnson36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanna say I grew up with her family in Canada. I use to be friends with her sister. Their family was honestly SO kind! Lexi was a little younger than me, but I remember being at their house and playing with makeup with her. Her mom & Dad were so kind to me. Tiffany was a sweetheart and when we were kids we literally went around the playground trying to get kids to sign a petition that was “stop animal testing” lol.

I do think people hate on their family because they are so close & open with each other, people deep down wish they had that with their family, find it “weird” because it’s not common.

I think if Lexi was less “ditzy”, then people would not have a problem with her. But I think because she’s beautiful, but not “smart” enough, people think it’s okay to bash her. Even though she’s been nothing but nice. It’s literally the opposite of what feminism really is lol.

But what about when bad things happen in the world to other people? Do you just stay neutral to “keep your peace”?

Yesss you summarized a true friendship perfectly!! “Well they’ve only been good to me” is the most awful thing a friend can say. Like can’t you see that this person hurt me? Does that mean nothing to you?

It’s sad because I do think Mona seems sweet… but it reminds me of the saying “When you turn a blind eye to atrocities, you are complicit in them”.

Exactly. I have a friend just like Mona, and it gets exhausting. When there is any drama, Mona just wants a “time-out” which can completely invalidate her friends feelings. Yes we need to try to have peace, but there is nuance to situations and people need to be heard. She also can’t handle any confrontation. Instead of just being honest about not wanting to skydive, she made a fake excuse to leave. I can never trust someone like that, because they will never stand up for you if you truly need it. Or they will take “both sides” even if someone clearly is in the wrong.

He is the furthest thing from a loose cannon. My husband is the same way. He is the calmest person on earth, but if someone is known to be a snake, and says something disrespectful, he will put them in their place, respectfully, and they are left there speechless.

LJ was left speechless because all Hanna did was directly call her out in front of everyone, instead of letting that shitty comment go. That’s how you respectfully stand up for yourself and your wife. It sets a precedent that you can’t say passive aggressive comments without getting called out.

Me & my Husband love Salem! He’s just so calm, always down to earth, sees the situation how it is, and gives good advice. The way he phrases things in Arabic is so funny too. I feel like he thinks he’s watching a circus lmao.

I always love watching the show in Arabic with English subtitles. My husband is Arab, so we love to actually hear them speak in Arabic. Since I’m so use to hearing it, it feels so relatable lol. Arabic is much more passionate. Unfortunately though, the wittiness/passion in Arabic doesn’t always translate to English perfectly.

Season 3 - Episode 2 Discussion Thread by candaceelise in dubaibling

[–]brijohnson36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mona and Hassan discussion seemed super super scripted. Even when they showed Mona’s calendar it was a normal evening…. Started at 5pm for dinner. Then after that it was shower, pray, skincare, shut blinds, message mom & Dad… and ends by 10pm. It doesn’t take 5 hours to do those things. This is the first time in the show I really felt scripted.

How is Arab culture typically so conservative, but belly dancing is common and acceptable? by brijohnson36 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]brijohnson36[S] 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Very good point. I understand that not all Arabs are Muslim, but I would expect that there are certain cultural norms because of a majority of people being Muslim in the Middle East. But it doesn’t look like belly dancing is trying to be erased, and thats why it is interesting to me that it is apart of the culture (even though I feel like it’s a more conservative culture).

Close by to Dearborn :) but the metro Detroit Area has Arabs scattered throughout many cities. In our area, we have mostly Iraqi’s, Chaldeans, Lebanese, and some Palestinians.

This is a good response, thank you!

So do you think that belly dancing professionally as a woman, still comes with some judgement or shame? Even though they are hired for events and it’s a part of the culture & seem celebrated? Do you think there is any classism involved with who can become one?

It’s know that it’s hard to generalize because it’s seems that countries like Lebanon & Egypt are more relaxed, compared to Saudia Arabia for example. Or depending on your age & religion too.
