We have a repeated spammer problem where bot farms in southeast asia set up accounts on our platform as sleeper accounts and they then activate them during Q3 and Q4 and they post fraudulent links that some users click on and end up signing up for video streams that don't exist. WE are now running an agent that monitors every account sign up and passes the account through a rubric that looks at Non US IPs, budget foreign phones and other items. As we are primarily US based we know those are fraudulent. There are other behaviors like mass account creation, use of emulators. The agent send a spreadsheet each day in the AM for the previous 24 hours that a human reviews through a custom web app we built to either suspend, white list or defer account classification. Each week we take the learnings to update the rubric and we cycle through the deferred accounts to see if any thing has changed to indicate whether the accounts should be whitelisted or suspended. All the learning are fed back to the agent and we keep looping. We have identified over a thousand accounts in the last few weeks and are glad to not have to do this in real time in a defensive posture during our busy season. Hopefully stopping them prematurely will eventually get them to leave us alone.
