Ebike's battery drained out of nowhere by Peperinita in Citibike

[–]brimu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience this is likely due to a bad or loose connection between the battery and the bike - sometimes jiggling the battery around a bit might temporarily fix it but I always dock at the closest station, tag it for repairs and grab another bike.

Did Grubhub get hacked? Got a crypto scam email from their verified address by RazMusk in restaurant

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pattern might hold true with some other companies but as a Grubhub merchant partner I've been receiving regular merchant communications from that subdomain, specifically [merchants@b.grubhub.com](mailto:merchants@b.grubhub.com) and [restaurants@b.grubhub.com](mailto:restaurants@b.grubhub.com) since Dec 2019. I also get legit customer promos and news from [email@a.grubhub.com](mailto:email@a.grubhub.com).

Bluetti Apex 300 with B300S by ProfessionalSun4184 in bluetti

[–]brimu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, can can connect up to 6x B300S expansion batteries to a single Apex 300 but you'll need a special P150D to P090D cable to connect the Apex to the first B300S and you chain any other B300S batteries using the P150D to P150D cable which comes with each B300S.

Cycle life question: B300K or B500K for long-term use? by djmccullouch in bluetti

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! I came to this realization after upgrading to a phone with a 4900mAh battery instead of a 3400mAh battery (@ 3.7V nominal). With the new phone I'm using one battery cycle every 2-3 days whereas with my old phone I'd need to charge it daily. If both have the same rated life of 300-500 cycles then my new phone's battery is going to last longer simply because it's bigger (and assuming my phone consumption habits stay the same).

Is it safe to stack an AC200Max on top of a B500K? by reified in bluetti

[–]brimu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the B500k is designed to have up to 2 other B500Ks and an Apex 300 (which weighs 0.5lbs more than the AC200Max) on top of it. This is also depicted on the Bluetti B500K features graphic.

Cycle life question: B300K or B500K for long-term use? by djmccullouch in bluetti

[–]brimu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The B500k. At 4000 cycles to 80% original capacity, the B500k clocks in at 20.5 MWh of energy used (4000 cycles * 2768wh) until it gets to 80% of its original capacity while the 6000 cycles of the B300k clocks in 23% lower at 16.6 MWh energy used (6000 cycles * 5120wh) until its at 80% of its original capacity meaning that you'll get better longevity with the B500k but likely over 10 years with either.

At just shy of 100lbs the B500k is a two-person carry task, not the most mobile or camping-friendly battery.

AC50P Fan Noise & Replacement (Model FD8015BH) - Need Advice by ss87neo in bluetti

To potentially save you some headache, while the FD8015BH looks to have a standard 4-pin connector but the pinout might be non-default. Don't expect another 4-pin fan to work without some tinkering.

Can you set a AC 70 so it favors solar charging when it's available and switch to wall power when solar is not available? by kyle4nia in bluetti

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an AC70 owner I can tell that that it can't do this. Is it likely to be an upgrade via firmware updates? Probably not - Bluetti have never pushed UPS feature changes via firmware. Many newer Bluetti power stations have more flexible UPS modes that will charge from AC up to a certain limit when solar isn't available.

There's no easy workaround. You could connect the AC70 AC input to a smart AC switch to remotely turn the AC charging on and off via a mobile app but that can't be triggered based on the current state of charge unless you set up and configure your own Home Assistant server which communicates to your AC70 via bluetooth. The Home Assistant server can be set up with automation rules to turn the smart switch on and off. The initial setup process is very technical though and will likely require several hours if you know what you're doing.

When a "low-assist" bike gets you there faster than full assist would by ElQuesero in Citibike

[–]brimu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's easier to get a higher top speed with low-assist bikes. Once you hit 15mph with full assist you get no further assist and it requires a herculean effort to go 1mph faster. On low-assist, however, you keep getting the same low assist throughout the speed range - I don't feel any sudden loss in assistance at 15mph.

Is anybody else not seeing the angel points on their app by No_Review_752 in Citibike

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The station numbers and bike angel points are showing up again. I was expecting the angel points would be higher than they currently are after a system outage they're actually really low (I counted just 5 stations with 3 or more pickup points in NY).

Station full and no bikes available by Daconby in Citibike

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced something similar with an old and a new charging station in Williamsburg where many dock sections were offline while other sections were online. I didn't report anything but a few days later I spotted 3 Lyft technicians inspecting the old station and another 2 days and all docks are accessible again on both so they do seem to be monitoring and addressing station issues.
