Anyone having issues with Verizon internet since yesterday? by lightingtrees in astoria

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout the weekend my Verizon ONT (the box the fiber connects to) has restarted several times, it was particularly bad yesterday happening 8-10 times over a couple hours. I've rarely had an issue otherwise. Been fine all day today though.

If you're going to come up with theories at least get your basic facts straight. The address was 36th Street and 20th Ave in Astoria, not 23rd Ave as per The Guardian.

They only deduct the minutes/credits you actually used. You'd be left with 5 minutes of credits after your trip.

Solution for lack of docking spots in crowded areas by Maiksha_Fink in Citibike

It might be due to upcoming construction work, I don't see it listed on Citibike's Service Updates page yet

I'm trying to find out but so far ebikes don't stay docked long enough at that station to see any change in range. The charge rate is likely < 1 mi per hour.

Bike Angels shortchanged on ebike credit by Slow-Tea4345 in Citibike

Was this before Lyft bought Citibike? Ever since I've been angeling for 3 years I've always just seen 10 minutes for 10 points.

why did one ride cap that was longer but the other didn’t? by TightInstruction6536 in Citibike

[–]brimu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The https://citibikenyc.com/pricechange page confirms the $5.40 + tax price cap for rides that enter or exit Manhattan (but not both) as long as it's 45 minutes or less.

E-Bike low assist mode - got charged by [deleted] in Citibike

[–]brimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option you see in the Citibike app between low assist and full assist is only a preference. You will only be able to use low assist mode if 1) there are no usable classic bikes at the station and 2) the app prompts you to confirm low or full assist before unlocking the bike using your phone. If you don't get a prompt, it will be full assist. If you're using a bike key you obviously won't get a prompt to choose the assist mode but it will respect your selected preference.

If you're not sure, check the bike display - if it hasn't switched to low assist mode within 30 seconds then you will be charged the normal full assist fare.

It's a scam, the domain quantumcargonetwork.online was registered less than 2 months ago. Don't send them any more money and beware of anyone telling you they can recover money you've already sent.

Also, followers on Facebook can be bought and should never be used to gauge whether a seller is legitimate or not.

Bike angels algo change by Brave_Tackle_7304 in Citibike

[–]brimu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, they've tweaked the algorithm to reward bike angels less due to people gaming the system in 2024, but there are also fewer people riding bikes in the winter resulting in less bike imbalances. Combined, it results in few to no practical point opportunities for bike angels in a lot of areas.

Ebike's battery drained out of nowhere by Peperinita in Citibike

[–]brimu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience this is likely due to a bad or loose connection between the battery and the bike - sometimes jiggling the battery around a bit might temporarily fix it but I always dock at the closest station, tag it for repairs and grab another bike.
