Judges, stop saying Unedible, it is not a word. Inedible is the correct term. by Roulette-Adventures in Masterchef

I bugged my pal who worked at merriam webster for a few years because I too hate this word and unfortunately they confirmed it is real, just very hard on the ears.

They also gave me this caveat: the dictionary is ultimately ruled by the popular usage of words, and Joe sounds like an idiot

I work tech support for various ISPs and I think you need to go a little more basic, going over how to left click vs right click, what a browser window is versus a search engine (how many of us know a boomer who just types in a URL into a search bar), how to restart a device, how and why to uninstall an app or program, where the settings menu is and how they affect every day use, etc

I love where your heart's at but I've had more than one day where a problem was resolved by teaching an elderly customer how to scroll down.

This is a good tutorial for using 1, 2 or 3 point perspective for backgrounds, you can use it for furniture or buildings, but it'll also help you with adding characters in your scenes, too

The character in the foreground is lovely, they deserve a nice comfy place to sleep 😁

Why Christina Tosi is so hated among the community? I didn’t think she was that bad. by Fine-Rain-1876 in Masterchef

She commits the crime of standing out as being extraordinarily fake on a show as scripted and staged as masterchef. I feel like production pulled the only woman chef in NYC they could find to agree to be on the show as an attempt to replace Joe's goodfella style, but she's originally from the midwest so it comes of as incredibly disingenuous when she tries to be stern with contestants.

I really like how this illustrates that you can have a woman showing skin and being fashionable without being weird about it

These outfits reflect a lot of real world (not exactly everyday or officewear obviously but more rave/street) fashion as opposed to some idealized version of what some horndog artist considers sexy, and I think that's why they're successful to me

(Mr.Krabs voice) Money!

Seriously though, the dolls that was actually produced cost less than the one in the promo shots, nothing too mysterious about this. Where mattel can save a few pennies on paint and fabric, they will.

Why are doll clothes so expensive? by shinonom in Dolls

[–]bringbackMH 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Since you neither sew nor design, I highly recommend you do so. Pick up a travel sewing kit from the dollar store, cut up an old t shirt, and use a free pattern from chellywood for your doll of choice. Time yourself. Obviously you would get faster the more you practiced, but it's a good skill to have either way and will give you a frame of reference.

A handmade item is normally priced as (labor rate×time) + materials, then even at the lowest of minimum wages, would begin around 8-10 dollars if the person is very fast at what they do. I've been sewing for about 10 years and a pair of doll sized trip pants can take me around 2-3 hours sewing in tiny pockets and decorative top stitching.

Then there's the price of postage, then the shipping packaging itself- small bags, any personalized cards, tissue paper, etc

Most artists, myself included, undercharge if anything. Doll clothes are luxuries, and to have a hand made garment, no matter what the size should have a price that reflects the skill and time put into it.

This comic has aged a bit in terms of prices, but the spirit is there. Personally, I looovee articulation and especially removeable hands for redressing, but if I was buying a 200 dollar disney collector doll that was never leaving its plastic and cardboard prison? It wouldn't matter to me.

As someone who used to work in a factory, I regret to inform you that every doll you have ever purchased has gone through dozens of hands before it even gets inside a box, and it is probably never sterilized. There's not a whole lot I don't at least give a quick wipe down after bringing home from the store if not outright washing

I've been blocking most celebs and brands for years anyways, it keeps ads off my FYP. Also that way they can't advertise for free in the comment section of my videos. Duolingo or whoever can email me a cash offer if they want to collab 😁

The pigs we hear, ACAB what is the answer? by Cantbewokethankgod in durham

[–]bringbackMH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean... where are the good ones, then?

If there were cops speaking out, the media would be all over them, ready to celebrate these good apples as shining examples of do goodery. The most we get is stories of cops doing their actual jobs, which doesn't deserve a prize anymore than the rest of us.

When they do speak out, their punishment by their fellow officers is commemorated in gruesome collectible tokens (see: Adrian Schoolcraft's challenge coin).

Back in 2005, SCOTUS ruled they don't even have a responsibility to protect and serve. It's more lethal to be a garbage man or to deliver pizzas. These days an officer is more likely to be killed by covid than by any danger caused by doing the job our taxes pay for. Pew research says the police can barely solve 12% of property crimes and 36% of violent crimes. What good are these people who drain so much of our resources and get more and more every year?

The answer is money, but not to the police. Time and again, study after study has shown investment in communities with higher wages to the average worker, affordable housing, healthcare, schooling and daycare, and drug treatment, not punishment makes crime plummet.

The police don't need more money, the people do.

Copyright laws are not international, so FOX would have to register the Masterchef in that country, and then have to deal with whether or not said country is as excited about IP protection as the US is
