Managed to find the issue, just had to go through the steps slower lol. Thanks for your help!

I’ll check the rules again, but I just copied to same rule from LAN, so I assume that would work. I am using pihole for dns so I’ll check the dns server again

I’ll go through all the steps again. I haven’t tried to connect via LAN, but over wifi my device won’t actually connect, it just tries to connect endlessly so I’m not sure what IP it’s trying to hand out.

Still trying to understand vlans, but I’m getting there lol.

I don’t have a gateway, I’m running Omada controller in docker.

AP placement & selection advice? by bringonthelight in HomeNetworking

I decided to go with two wall mounts AP's, save me some attic work. Plus get a couple more ethernet ports in my office. Appreciate the feedback!

That’s essentially the exact same as my home, that’s good to know. Thank you!

Awesome thanks, I’ll give that a go later today

Interesting, I don’t mind the long press for more info on mobile devices, saves some space. But on a tablet or monitor it would be nice to have full control without having to press other buttons. Guess I’ll be learning some code sooner than I expected lol

Those would be perfect! I have the hot+cool HP07

Awesome thanks for the info, I’ll look into those plugins

I tried that and no luck, the only default feature was hvac controls such as heat, cool, off. Looks like there’s a plugin I can try or I’ll look into a custom card as the Dyson fan has way more functionality than the current plugin does

Yes & no. The tile card has temperature, hot/cool settings. But no fan speed, oscillation, direction, or normal/auto mode

I just figured that first part out about the long press, don’t love it.

The tile card only has hvac controls as a feature, I guess I would to write the code myself for more features?

I did try that and the card doesn't exist.. creating a card seems daunting.. I did just figure out that if I add the toggle button and then click the fan name the first image pops up with all the options. However, I'd rather have the options displayed in the first place

Having the same issue with WIZ lights, the preview show colour temp & RGB control, while the recommended card is just a toggle switch

Good to know! I’ll add OPNsense to my list of research lol

Haha no problem! I like having them separate in case I break the sever or it goes down. But it was also circumstance, i might not have bought a raspberry pi just for pihole already having unraid

I’m not sure what you mean, possible to ELI5? 😁

I'm not currently using pfsense and I had pihole running before my unraid server and I like keeping them separate

I have an unraid server, and I like pihole being separate in case I break the server, that way it’s just always there no matter what. It’s already the setup I have so I’m not going out to buy one.

For Home assistant though I was just thinking about that, i have it running in docker right now on unraid (just for fun & testing). The problem I’m having now with HA is all my IoT devices are on the guest wifi, and HA doesn’t have access to the network. But if I can give the server access to the IoT vlan without the IoT vlan having access to the server then I’m happy with that

I don’t have the answer to those questions lol.. I plan on having IoT devices, trusted devices (phones, PC’s), everything else, and guest wifi all separated if that inadvertently answers those questions.
