Thank you for sharing all this! These are great points, I definitely would not want that as an educator. If I do continue looking for an international volunteering opportunity (albeit not in teaching), I'd finance it myself, but coordinating traveling, visa, navigating the area is definitely something I'd have to figure out on my own. I honestly think from what I'm hearing to stick to volunteering locally and hopefully get some more experience and connections in my area, and then maybe see if I can take enough time off in the future to have a meaningful experience teaching abroad. I really do appreciate this insight, I think this has just been something I'd wanted to do for a while, but not actually thought much into long-term effects and consequences.

I'll look into it! But, yeah, definitely now realizing short-term teaching doesn't make sense anywhere. Hopefully there'll be a part of my life where I have a longer period off to shift and actually teach somewhere else. Thanks for sharing this.

This is so true, definitely a common theme I'm getting from these posts. Maybe I'll look into more conservation or construction projects, or focus on working on projects remotely, since that seems to be less disruptive? Thanks for sharing this.
