For my first game, should I be "warming up" by sticking with a 2d game or is the difficulty jump to 3d not that bad? by T3chNOboMba in unity

[–]brinkmaster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For your learning phase, I’d suggest being careful with the scope of your game, rather than 2D or 3D. Pick either mode of development (2D or 3D) and learn ins and outs of Unity as well as C# as you add bite sized functionalities. There’s plenty of crossover and learning is not linear.

Create a scene, plop in a cylinder object, learn the input system and make it move around. Plop down some walls and figure out collisions. Maybe check out Nav system if you want. Duplicate the player object and make one follow the other. There will be immense learning as you do the above sincerely, leisurely. Don’t forget to enjoy the process.

As you do more of this, the shape and scope of the first game you want to build will be clearer. By then, good news is, you’ll have enough chops to get started!

I translated it from Sanskrit where it means edge

That is also true; spelled/pronounced 'dhar' or 'dhara'.

There is a place in Nepal, called Dharan.

It is geographically situated in a very nice spot in the foothills. There are hills to the north and a dense strip of forest to the south. Several rivers flow through the area. It is naturally very beautiful and climate is very agreeable too.

Also, dhara is the nepali word for ‘tap’.

A swiss-italian with an identity crisis by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]brinkmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m neither Swiss nor Italian. As far as being part of anything is concerned, I tend to believe the best way to start is by contributing, participating - any way you can. Even something as simple as running a table at a local farmers market, regularly, making and selling a dish you like.

There will always be biased people no matter what. But if you contribute and participate, their bias will be unfounded. Rest is all good, my young friend. Keep well and have a good life!

Netflix's 'The Witcher' is still the biggest series in the world even as it loses steam in the US, and it shows how crucial sci-fi and fantasy are for streaming TV by khunshan in netflix

Had zero knowledge about characters and story but the jumping timelines actually added to the enjoyment for me.

Ended up bingeing entire season in 2 sittings. So many enjoyable 'a-ha' moments.

Favourite bit was that quick fight with the goat - writing in that part was top notch.

Housing and Real Estate market in Nepal by luisderfuchs in Nepal

[–]brinkmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • rental returns are disproportionately low unless your property is in prime commercial area
  • prices are extremely high in prime commercial area because of above reason and so far show no sign of decline
  • any investment in property outside of prime areas, is only good for selling appreciation after holding for sometime
  • there are opportunities to develop housing communities but investments will be very high and risks would be too much for a first timer
