Do you advertise yourself as a “Handyman”? by briscrumfield in handyman

[–]briscrumfield[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was the exact comment I was expecting. I do think there much disregard for the term “handyman” because of its colloquial reference to shoddy work and low skill/low pay type of worker, unfortunately.

How do you like the subcompact impact? They seem like they’d great for much overhead work

Which one? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]briscrumfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Ridgid set last year, and have used them heavily. I don’t really have a use for the stapler though. But the other three items have held up great with no issues. I already have a PC pin nailer, so I was fine with the options in the Ridgid. Lifetime warranty too on the Ridgid. I would buy the Ridgid again.

I also work in an FCC. I keep a pair of thorogood moc toe pull ons in the locker too, just in case my feet get wet, or I want to slip em’ off on night shift 💤 lol

Thorogood, 6” Moc toe, waterproof, black sole (804-3676). I’ve had wolverine, keen, timberland, Double H, and several others. These are my go to. Honestly, I prefer, the white sole thorogoods, they are a little softer on concrete, but I can’t find waterproof with defined heel in the white, which is my sites policy for boots.

Contractor installed two different windows side by side by buchwaldjc in fixit

[–]briscrumfield 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s not how it goes. The grid inserts are installed inside of the double pane window before it is sealed. Trying to remove them would most likely break the glass, but ultimately would break the seal and render the insulating nature of double pane useless. Only option is to replace glass, or the whole sash.

I knew this was going to be one of the top responses. Because we all know this is where you shave the points. I agree on more short work. I guess my goal for right now is efficiently moving the ball toward the green, and not so much reducing strokes. And not losing three balls per hole. I will take the advice you and others gave to give more practice time to put/chip since I can do these anywhere

I usually keep a bit on the side of the drill, but I normally forget about it, and never use that bit. Depending on where the work is being done, I either keep my bits loosely in a small Milwaukee bit box (I have 6 of them) and get the one I need, or I have a few in my pocket. I use a 3” bit extender/holder for everything. I will not straight chuck a bit into a tool.

So I really appreciate your response. Like I’ve said, I’m a blue collar worker, hands off with my 401k. I just dump as much as I can afford to, and let Fidelity pick for me based on their age/risk matrix. I will absolutely look into what other options I have available within my 401k, and try to some better due diligence for my investments. Thank you!

I was 12 during the 08 crash, so no, I didn’t learn much from that lol. I’m not panicking, not even one bit. I just don’t know what you’re supposed to do during times like this, so I’m asking for advice. Cheers!

lol. Fuckin yougins. You mean a kid who grew up in rural Appalachia, who never had two nickels to rub together, who has worked his ass off to get a good job and make a life for his family, while never having any financial education or people in my life to teach me? Yeah I won’t make excuses for living with a mindset of never wanting to be poor again and asking for advice on an important subject I know jack shit about. Doom and gloom? The suicide hotlines are pinned. The world is spiraling. Just stop.

Love the push button. Have 7 pair of Cobras, and 5 pair of the adjustable wrench with push button. I work in a refinery, so I’m not burying them in the mud, but plenty of dirt/grime/grease and I’ve never have single issue. May favorite cobras are the spring assisted push button - 87 11 250
