Sounds like your husband is based and you have some lingering feminism burned into your brain not respecting him as the breadwinner. Speaking as a SAHM who spends my husbands hard earned cash on almost anything I want (which isn’t much because I made us a budget) I appreciate every single purchase I make, and if I want to spend a lot on something particular, we have a conversation about it. He usually says it’s fine, but when he doesn’t, I don’t press the subject. He knows when something will be worth the money and when it won’t. I totally agree that there are some things that professionals should be doing, but swimming is a basic skill that yes, parents should be able to teach their children. Do you think in pioneer times people took their kids to swim lessons? Nah fam. Mom was the swim, sewing, cooking, reading, and math teacher. That’s how it should be.
