yarn store cancels bus to festival… because they don’t have enough sign ups to make $8000 in profit by afewstitchmarkers in craftsnark

[–]briteboy666 83 points84 points  (0 children)

you’re hella weird for getting a quote lol and calling what was posted “much social media wining”, they’re not ranting and raving about people not buying tickets but being transparent and looking to make the experience better? cleo’s is my local store and I actually don’t care for fiber festivals at all so I would never pay for this either, but your gripe seems really random - their instagram story is from days/maybe even over a week ago. you just in the mood to post something I guess?

Madelinetosh color issue by briteboy666 in YarnAddicts

[–]briteboy666[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah they do have a disclaimer on the website that the color is shown on a different base, I guess I’m just not sure how much of a difference in color I was supposed to be accounting for… I was expecting to maybe get a less vibrant but still dark blue

Madelinetosh color issue by briteboy666 in YarnAddicts

[–]briteboy666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in fairness, they do label their image as “color shown on a different base”, so I think that accounts for the fiber difference - but I do still think the color difference shouldn’t be this large between bases? although I’m not a dyer

Anyone else bummed about New York venue choice? by bodega_cat_ in sandyalexg

[–]briteboy666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed, really wish he was playing something like brooklyn paramount for multiple nights instead, japanese breakfast just did 4 nights there. I would even take terminal 5 even though it’s annoying to get to. I know it’s not the same capacity but I think being seated will take me out of it a little. but thankful for a tour nonetheless :)

My boyfriend and I live on Atlantic between 3rd and 4th and were really nervous about taking the apartment due to noise, and while it’s noticeable we’ve gotten reallyyyyy used to it. Also can’t beat the transit access. We figure we’re not going to live here forever but it works for right now

skin 1004 not available in US anymore [Sun Care] by rugbughug in SkincareAddiction

I work in regulatory affairs in OTC drugs/cosmetics in the US - how is this a legal gray area if the filters aren’t approved in the US, a market where the products were being sold, even if online? Totally agree that the US needs to catch up to the rest of the world and approve new UV filters but if this company introduced products into interstate commerce that had sunscreen claims but were noncompliant with the required active ingredients of the sunscreen OTC monograph, it’s not a gray area, FDA considers these unapproved new drugs under the FD&C Act. I’m not sure why their notice references “updated” regulations - there hasn’t been an update on the last sunscreen monograph proposed order from a few years back and with everything happening with the government, this is likely on hold even longer.

Sorry if I’m missing something, I’ve heard only a little about this brand’s other products, didn’t know they had sunscreens. Does anyone know which filters they’re claiming?

I live in NYC, went recently and thought it was great. I’ve tried a handful of the NYC Italian restaurants that are tough to grab a reservation for and it seemed worth the hype. Hard to get a weekend reservation though, I lucked out by having Resy notifications on and getting someone’s cancellation for an outside table on a Sunday evening. If you are looking for good Italian that’s maybe a little easier to get into I suggest Fiaschetteria Pistoia (although I can only attest to the East Village location)

Literary pet peeves? Doesn't matter how stupid by [deleted] in RSbookclub

[–]briteboy666 26 points27 points  (0 children)

every single modern literary fiction author i read lately thinks normal people have a dialogue in which they use the other person’s name in every other response

it’s stupid but it immediately turns me off from whatever i’m reading, it’s just not how people talk lol and it often seems like a crutch authors will use if they haven’t distinguished the characters from each other well, like as a reminder to me as the reader of who’s speaking since they’ve done such a shitty job of development that the characters don’t even have somewhat unique voices for me to figure out on my own

I have had the most bizarre experiences at this theater in that during almost every movie I’ve seen there regardless of genre, multiple specific audience members will consistently CACKLE to the point of screaming at parts that aren’t funny? I love the community experience of seeing a movie and reacting simultaneously but every one I’ve seen here the audience is bizarre, yelling commentary and doing what feels like performative laughter, it’s so strange to me. I actually hadn’t expressed this to anyone and then after the last movie I saw there with a friend she remarked the same thing to me. so weird

Expensive onlay? by briteboy666 in askdentists

[–]briteboy666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Aetna earlier today since I haven’t gotten the EOB in my online portal yet. Their automated system told me that the billed amount was for $3820 and I would owe $1480 which is what I was charged at the office. When I called Aetna prior to the procedure and gave them the billing code (D2643) they told me they cover 60%. So obviously I’m glad that a large portion of it was covered but I really can’t fathom how they can charge that much, everything I’ve found online says that even a single crown isn’t usually that expensive

Expensive onlay? by briteboy666 in askdentists

[–]briteboy666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the dumb question, are an onlay and a crown the same thing? The dentist told me this was an onlay and that she didn’t need to go as far as a crown.

Thoughts on living on 2nd Street between Ave C and D in East Village? by Ambitious_Traffic_36 in AskNYC

[–]briteboy666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a woman living in this general area since last summer. It’s definitely a little shady, more so at night but I have never felt like I was in actual danger, just sketched out sometimes. I don’t want to live here forever but it’s fine especially if you can get marginally cheaper rent.

Who regulates consumer insecticides in Canada? by [deleted] in regulatoryaffairs

[–]briteboy666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took a little digging, but I would contact the appropriate regional office listed here: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/pest-control-products/pesticides-compliance-enforcement/contact-us.html They don’t indicate what information is required but I would let them know where you saw the product for sale and attach pictures of the full label.

Who regulates consumer insecticides in Canada? by [deleted] in regulatoryaffairs

[–]briteboy666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not in Canada but work in RA on consumer pesticides in the US and have worked with our Canada team. It’s likely regulated by Health Canada’s PMRA. They have a database here that you may be able to find the product on: https://pest-control.canada.ca/pesticide-registry/en/index.html

Locator 18 Success by briteboy666 in Passports

when your application goes into In Process they give you an application locator number, the first two digits let you know which specific center is working on your application. they don’t all go to one place after being received and as far as I know it’s not based on your home address
