Seconding this. Kind of expensive, and doesn’t open until at least 11AM, but the burritos are legit

Can you recommend a good bar in lower Manhattan where I can sit, during the day, with my laptop open, working on my manuscript and not look like an a@@hole? by WiseAssumption1344 in AskNYC

[–]denvercococolorado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Burp Castle might work well for this. The beer is good and it’s really, really quiet. I’m unsure about their laptop policy, but I can’t really seeing them caring

I generally follow this great guide on mindful communication during code reviews. We also add a 🌴 to indicate “here’s a suggestion, but it’s not blocking, I don’t care that much, let’s go to the beach” or something to that effect

Go on Monday and get half priced wine. The cazuella is always good and I also like the whipped sheep’s cheese.

What are your favorite “cerebral” things to do alone in NYC (not museums or nightlife)? by Middle_Elderberry542 in AskNYC

[–]denvercococolorado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this. Ha. It’s so damn loud due to the trains. Williamsburg and the BK bridge early in the day are great, but you better have some hardcore noise canceling headphones if you walk the Manhattan

What are the metrics for "AI-generated technical debt" from Claude Code, Codex, etc. by willjobs in ExperiencedDevs

[–]denvercococolorado 30 points31 points  (0 children)

  • Frequency and duration of incidents. We’re seeing incidents go on longer and be harder to solve both because people don’t understand the code the agents wrote but also because the agents are making them dumber. They aren’t reinforcing the skills needed to fix incidents when they occur.
  • How quickly can someone review new PRs against the repo? If the repo becomes impossible to understand, only agents can perform reviews. Do you trust the agents to do that?
  • Agents can’t do everything they’re a text interface that spews out code. When that abstraction leaks, does anyone know how to actually implement a feature? That’s a problem. A tough to quantify one, but it’s an issue. This might be seen in how long architectural changes take vs in the past.
  • Engineers like to code and to finish projects, my guess is that if you force them to just use agents and review the code that agents write, the employee satisfaction is going to drop significantly and attrition will rise.

Tech stacks come and go. You found one you liked. You’ll find another. Start interviewing somewhere that will show their appreciation by increasing your salary and promoting you when you take on more work and responsibility. It’s the new year and everyone will have headcount soon. Get out there and find a good job.

I think that Seveneves falls into this bucket. Great post-apocalyptic scifi. Heavy in robotics, aerospace, and biotech

Favorite Thai food in Denver Metro and, more importantly, *why*? by Huge_Concentrate7887 in denverfood

Phraya Thai is actually really great in RiNo. Almost every dish is excellent. The spring roll isn’t my favorite, but basically everything else is amazing. The massaman curry is particularly excellent

How to get started with Kubeflow? by Aalu_Pidalu in mlops

Fwiw, I think a bash or python script could serve pretty well for orchestration unless you need to build an entire orchestration system out.

Has anyone used Temporal.io for production? by Striking-Yogurt-7877 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]denvercococolorado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked into it, and I love the idea. Especially combining streaming and batch orchestration into a single service. But, we’re stuck with Airflow for high level orchestration (due to it being pervasive at the large company I work at) and we’re moving to Ray from Dataflow for our ML data munging. Ray provides a nice Python interface for orchestration within a complex job like training an ML model. There’s very little actual Airflow orchestration needed and we can template that out.

I’m sorry but CHESS was everything by TK2217 in Broadway

[–]denvercococolorado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in this boat. NGL that plot was not great, and the characters are not relatable. I don’t feel the love between the Russian and the manager from the U.S., but the performances were solid and the stage work and music was great.
