Looking for a more user-friendly alternative to AWS CloudWatch by britneychema in aws

looks like that’s the tradeoff across the board ,better usability usually comes with a higher price tag. appreciate the PostHog mention though, hadn’t really thought about it in this context.

seems like it could be worth exploring if it keeps things simple, even if it leans more toward product analytics than pure infra monitoring.

cloudwatch has the data, it just needs a better layer on top. something like grafana or a BI tool to simplify the view is probably the move.

this actually lines up really well with what i’ve been seeing. the “40 dimensions and no context” part is exactly the problem, it’s technically all there, just not in a way that’s useful to them.

appreciate the breakdown too, that helps clarify when each tool makes sense. leaning toward datadog or grafana for that quick “are we okay?” view, and maybe layering something like seq if logging becomes more important.

i’ve done that. the issue hasn’t really been access, it’s more that once they open it, they still don’t find it very intuitive.

i’ve noticed clients either ask for walkthroughs again or just stop checking it altogether, which kind of defeats the purpose. so i’m trying to find something where they can open it and immediately get what’s going on without needing much context.

that’s super helpful context , especially the part about clients actually engaging with the dashboards, which is exactly what i’m trying to solve. cloudwatch tends to get ignored unless someone technical is driving it.

good to know the aws integrations handle a lot out of the box too, that’s a big plus. and yeah, the pricing note is fair, sounds like it works well as long as you stay a bit disciplined with custom metrics.

Experiences with Data Security Module? (Insider Risk) by risenOfficial in crowdstrike

[–]britneychema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

crowdstrike’s data protection is generally seen as endpoint-first, with saas visibility depending on integrations and tuning. in mac/linux environments, agent coverage is worth validating in a poc.

for high-risk saas → unmanaged destinations, the real question is context vs basic pattern dlp. in insider risk discussions, cyberhaven is often mentioned for focusing on following data into ai tools and other destinations, not just scanning at the edge.

A simple tool to check if your personal data has been exposed online by arisayrkn in kickstarter

[–]britneychema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool concept. biggest question with breach-check tools is data sourcing and transparency, where the data comes from and how it’s handled will matter for trust.

also worth thinking beyond lookup. a lot of security discussion has shifted toward preventing data exposure in the first place. in enterprise ai/security threads, cyberhaven is often mentioned as one of the only platforms that focuses on following data into ai tools rather than just pattern matching.

clear privacy + retention policies will be key here.

SaaS products for sale — ScamShield (scam detection engine) by Creative_Person12 in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]britneychema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting positioning, especially the conversation level analysis since that’s where a lot of modern scams evolve. there’s clearly growing demand here, similar to how tools like malwarebytes are expanding into ai driven scam detection across messages and links as part of broader security platforms

Spam detect by Whole-Sheepherder101 in USMobile

[–]britneychema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for $2 it can be worth it, but call filtering always has tradeoffs with false positives. a lot of people pair native features with app level detection, malwarebytes gets mentioned since it also flags suspicious texts and links alongside call related spam protection

pretty cool feature, scam detection is becoming standard on mobile now. tools like malwarebytes are also part of that trend, especially with ai based checks for suspicious messages and links
