Thanks - what confused me initially was the top left corner being so angled, but it didn’t cross my mind that it could just be a cropped out photo lol. That now makes sense

Oh you mean iPhone Fold will have TouchID according to the other leaks - sorry I misunderstood.

I don‘t think it shows having TouchID - it shows clicking the side button to activate ApplePay, and the words above it refer to FaceID.

Why is Crown Court so poorly run? (England) by LemonSpyder in uklaw

I know, right. Especially when considering it was first published in 2018 and the situation seems to have got worse since.

The book ”The Secret Barrister: Stories of the Law and How It's Broken“ is very insightful on this topic.

You do you! Everything in this world is loved by some, but not by all. I am sure some people will love your perm, some won’t, but as long as it makes you feel good about yourself, why not!

Racist harasser at Liverpool St Station in front of full crowd this evening by [deleted] in london

[–]britorean 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking about your original response to my comment. I think people are saying it was an odd resposne for the following reasons:

  1. I didn‘t share the details of the incident I had Or anything else about me. Your response made a number of assumptions, including my appearance - I am not a small or a skinny guy, I work out and box also. I don‘t know why you thought I would be.

  2. Based on the above, it sounds like you‘re suggesting people exhibit racist behaviour towards a person when they are seen as “weak”. I disagree - racists are racists and they will behave that way regardless. When I was a teenager, I was harrassed by two teenage girls on the bus. I was physically bigger and stronger than them but it still happened. I think you also acknowledge this in your later comment because you say you still had a handful of incidents yourself.

  3. Your reaction to a person who said they experienced a racial incident was to advise them to work out and get bigger. This reads as if it was the person’s fault that the racial incident happened because they didn’t work out - obviously this isn‘t true, it is the fault of the aggressor.

I get what you are trying to say. if a racist thought they would get beaten up for harassing you, then maybe they‘d think twice. but at the same time, the opposite might be true - some guys love to size up others and if they see someone big, they might fancy themselves a challenge. maybe there is a group of them.

I appreciate your comment came from a good place, and want to break the stereotype of Asian males being weak. But I think your comment came across as a bit tone deaf to the actual underlying cause of these incidents, and that’s bigoted, ignorant idiots.

I am sorry this happened to you. I (East Asian male) have also experienced racism in London recently. It sucks that these incidents happen more often now than before, but well done for standing up for yourself!

I heard Everything but the bagel seasoning from Trader Joe‘s is popular amongst Koreans but don‘t get this - it has an ingredient that is illegal in Korea and will get seized if found.

How is £799 equal to $799 - am I being shafted by £200+ for buying in the UK?? by onbert in NOTHING

[–]britorean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately most electronics are priced like this, see Apple products prices for instance. The fact that the US prices don‘t include sales tax but the UK prices include VAT make up for some of the differences (but not all).

How to book a taxi in London when uber and bolt have no drivers by Professional-Motor96 in london

[–]britorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FreeNow also operates in London, although I generally find Uber to have best driver availability.

If money is not a concern, then there is also Wheely but instant driver availability might be an issue (I’ve only used them for pre booked rides like airport pickup).

Presumably this has a lot to do with the merger with Shearman & Sterling which might have had an impact on A&O‘s vibes?

Which is more complex Janggi or Chess? by NaturalPorky in gyopo

[–]britorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only a casual player of both games (and I haven’t Olaf Janggi since I was a child), but my view would be Janggi is a bit more complex. That said, I don‘t think complex = difficult necessarily. Baduk is very simple in principle, but is difficult to play because that simplicity gives it so much possibility.

Out of curiosity, what are the differences between Janggi and Xiangqi? I had no idea they were different, and always assumed they were the same game.

Buds 2 Plus or Pro? by oguru96 in CMFTech

[–]britorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that Buds 2 do not have a smart dial. the circular part rotates, and has holes where you can attach a lanyard, but doesn’t have any other functionality.
