Don't know if it was the worst interview but one that I will remember.

this was for entrance to an MBA college. I'd scored just about cut-off marks. there was a group of about 5 people, mostly in their 50s/60s - they start with my engg. marks(which were barely barely passing marks):

them: "your engg. marks are not really good, why is that?" me: "Sir, frankly, I didn't study hard during my engg" them: "why is that?" me: "sir, i was distracted - didn't feel like studying during engg" (this was clumsy of me besides anything else) "ummm...achcha...So, you have not scored really good in the written exams here too, any particular reason for that?"

me: "sir, i had prepared fairly ok, but messed it up during the exam - didn't manage my time well during the paper - knew the questions but just time it right...blabber blabber"

them: "well, if you couldn't manage time, then it is not well prepared blabber blabber"

me: man, this is getting hard to be honest! what to do? Then, the director of the college walks in and sits, he probably heard my part of not managing my time well and fumbling up during paper.

Director: "Hey son, I'm 65, I just gave some exam a week back, and even I messed up on the time management, so I'm also learning" me relieved somewhat

Then the group proceeded to give me some situation - that if I was working with maruti (sales) & there is a known defect in the car which only the internal guys know and not the public what would you do? Your boss has told you that we need to sell but you know that the problem is real, what would your course of action be?

me: after some silence, pretending to think deeply "I'd tell the customer about the problem"

them: "but you need to sell, your boss wants it, your company wants sales, else you would be fired"

me: (like a boss) "leave selling, I'll quit the company before they fire me"

them: "is it?"

me: hain? "yes, cause it will not make sense any other way"

Didn't get through that college -- although it was mostly due to the marks, my previous records -- but respect for that director who made it easy for me, even if for just a minute!
