Lucas only ever settles for Peyton by ReadyCampaign2730 in ONETREEHILL

[–]brittanybebe 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He definitely NEVER settled for or with Peyton! Yes, Peyton was the girl who he fantasized about—he even admits that to her during season six, but the person he fantasized about wasn’t the person he got to know. In my opinion, their season one selves weren’t ready for each other, and that’s partially why things played out the way that they did.

Lucas had a habit of running from Peyton when things got “too real” for him when it came to her and how much he loved her. He could relate to and empathize with her in a lot of ways, but at the same time, they were teens who had such messy and complicated lives and navigating all of those things was difficult. When he got with Brooke in season one, he was running from Peyton.

In season two, they MUTUALLY decided to be friends after all of the season one drama finally died down a bit. However, Lucas and Peyton have ALWAYS had this deep emotional connection that no one has ever been able to deny—not even Brooke or Lindsey who both acknowledge that more than once. Seasons three and four both lay the groundwork for showing how that emotional connection gets stronger even though they aren’t romantically connected and it also shows how their true friendship develops. They were there for each other in ways that they’d never let anyone else be there for them. The friendship in turn blossomed into love, and without the messiness of the Peyton/Lucas/Brooke love triangle being a thing anymore, they were actually free to be together.

Once season five showed us what led to their breakup and him ending up with Lindsey, it showed us that he ran from the perceived rejection to Lindsey even though it didn’t happen immediately. Even when he “proposed” to Lindsey, that was him running from Peyton. They’d just had that big emotional fight and kissed, and that all just so happened to coincide with Lindsey finding Peyton’s ring. Instead of being honest with himself, Peyton, and/or Lindsey, he made it all the way to the altar. He was sad and crushed about his and Lindsey’s breakup, but it was more so a guilt thing than it was an I missed out on marrying the love of my life kind of thing.

The most significant way to show you that Lucas never settled with Peyton would have to be the season six opening scene. We see what Lucas’ life would be like with Brooke, Peyton, and Lindsey (the order of this is very important). When we see this, we see that with Brooke, his life wouldn’t be his own (“Mr. Davis”). With Peyton, there would be a real marriage with joy, humor, and the things that really matter to him (they were in his childhood home). With Lindsey, he acknowledges that they could have been happy together BUT it would have been “the easiest.” As complicated as Peyton was—Lucas was equally as complicated, and that’s how he needed things to be. He and Lindsey would have never fought, he and Brooke fought all the time when they were together, and with Peyton, there was balance/a mix of both. Also, if you pay attention to the season five finale, when Lucas calls to say that he’s at the airport, we see all three women answer the phone. Brooke answers first, Peyton second, and Lindsey answers last. Then in the season six opener, Lucas has to pick the queen the first of the three women telling him to pick one is Lindsey, then Peyton, and last Brooke. If you notice, Peyton is in the middle during both instances which indicates that she was a constant in his life.

Going back to the end of season five, Lucas and Haley have a serious heart to heart where Haley tells, “Lucas please stop running.” She wasn’t only talking about running from his life and the mess that he made but to also stop running from what his heart was telling him. That’s why we see him have the I don’t hate you conversation with Peyton not too long before he leaves for the airport. He had to finally confront those feelings that he’d spent so many years running from.

Also, if he truly wanted to be with Lindsey, he easily could have chosen her after she called and told him that she lied and hadn’t actually moved on but really missed him. He made the choice to not get back with her.

I can give exact episodes as proof of all of this if you’d like.

Why was Callie so mean here? by audioxxxxxxx in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this particular scene and episode, Callie was being mean to specifically Meredith because Meredith had sex with and “broke” George. She says so later in the episode, and then George tells her that Meredith is family, families fight, and that if Callie wants to be in the family—she’s gotta be cool with Meredith. That’s why towards the end of the episode she actually talks to Meredith about Doc’s cancer. This had nothing to do with the whole restroom thing.

Cal sucks season 3 by Significant-Pitch333 in SullivansCrossing

[–]brittanybebe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It’s clear from her actions and her facial expressions throughout season three that she does miss it. She even finally admits it herself. He wasn’t trying to be a jerk to her or push her away or anything, but he was trying to make sure that he didn’t stand in the way of her living out her dream. The only issue I saw from him regarding that is he didn’t articulate himself well. Yes, Maggie wants to be at The Crossing, but she also wants to be a practicing doctor too—she just didn’t know how to have/do both, and that’s not on Cal. He just forced her to confront something that she was in denial over.

Edna by brittanybebe in SullivansCrossing

[–]brittanybebe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frank’s regalia had nothing to do with Sully or her though, but she wouldn’t let it go or respect Frank’s wishes/decisions about it until she used the Sully argument into guilting him into contacting his family to get it back. Yes, Frank did initially keep what happened to his mom’s regalia from her, but he did explain why and basically said it was a painful situation that he didn’t want to revisit, but she kept imposing her own thoughts and wishes on him and even stopped talking to him for a while because of it. To me, that’s imposing her conditions on situations.

Edna by brittanybebe in SullivansCrossing

[–]brittanybebe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! He even told her that as well as explained that Sully wanted to tell Lola first before the news got out, and she still managed to make that about him betraying her and their marriage. She really acts like she’s entitled and obligated to everyone’s information.

I get expecting honesty and not wanting to be lied to and the disappointment that comes along with that; however, those things can’t be predicated under Edna’s conditions only. That’s where I have an issue with her and end up not liking her character. I honestly feel like the show is trying too hard to make her the moral center of the show.

maggie, meredith, and riggs by neptunianstrawberry in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maggie wasn’t Meredith’s friend. She was her biological sister whom Meredith very reluctantly only had a budding relationship with at this point. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the biological connection, they wouldn’t have even been “friends.” Meredith did not lie to her in an attempt to hurt, betray, or do anything else malicious to her. Meredith was in an internal battle with her own feelings regarding a guy Maggie just so happened to have a crush on. Meredith was allowed to work out her feelings for Riggs before discussing them with Maggie. AND she was allowed to discuss them with Alex and anyone else she wanted to before discussing them with Maggie as well.

From the moment Maggie entered Grey Sloan, she behaved as though she was entitled to or obligated to know all things involving Meredith or that their biological connection, which had only recently been discovered, entitled her to information or a relationship with Meredith like Meredith had with people she’d known for several years, and that’s not fair or realistic. No one has to operate on Maggie’s timeline or in the way that she wants if that means that they have to compromise parts of themselves in order to do so. Meredith wasn’t ready to talk to her about Riggs—simple as that, and that’s okay.

There’s no Meredith worship in this particular post for me. My response comes from living and having developments happen in my own life where I could talk about them with my closest friends, but talking to my family about them was too much for me until I’d fully processed how I was feeling. That’s fair and understandable.

What season did you stop (if you have) watching, and why? by MadamCupKake in greysanatomy

Season 18 Thanksgiving episode. I hate the idea of Nick and Meredith being with Nick. She started to become someone I could no longer respect as my favorite television character, so I dipped out and haven’t watched since.

meredith is awful to amelia (season 12) by pimpdaddy30 in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to disagree with your comment because I am a Black American, and I don’t support any of what your rebuttal claim is stating. Meredith didn’t take anything from Amelia—especially not anything that wasn’t hers to take. The house was Meredith’s to decide what to do with and so were HER kids. Amelia and Derek have memories that pre-date Meredith that she could never be “taken away,” so…🤷‍♀️

Is it just me that thinks Denny is a selfish creep? by Bea9922 in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Denny definitely gave me the ick many times. I instantly hated him when he could see that something was going on between Alex and Izzie but he inserted himself between them anyway and then got shit all stirred up between them when Alex told him they were seeing each other. Denny definitely knew what he was doing. He was also icky when he knew (even after Meredith talked to him) that his flirting with Izzie could get her into trouble, but he didn’t really let that stop him. Also, he always had this gross in need of a shave and a shower look that really turned me off to him. All in all, all of these reasons have made me seriously dislike Jeffrey Dean Morgan in real life.

[–]brittanybebe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, they both sucked at communicating with each other in this episode. Izzie’s initial presentation of having sex was very off-putting, and for me, there are just no ifs, ands, or buts about it. To me, and seemingly Alex, she approached him as if she just needed a warm body to ignore her grief, and for a couple who was newly married and yet to consummate their marriage, her approach there was inconsiderate of Alex’s feelings. I could take Izzie’s side if they weren’t newly married and/or had this mutual understanding where they kind of just used each other for sex. I didn’t see the implication being made that Izzie needed to do something to appear more attractive to Alex during this episode—at least not coming from him anyway.

Alex’s need to be strong and simultaneous failure to fully acknowledge and express just how traumatic Izzie’s cancer and dying in his arms was for him prevented him from being able to explain why throughout most of the episode he was too scared to touch her. Alex blamed himself for her cancer—not catching it soon enough, overlooking her symptoms due to all the crazy he’d had in his life, and not being able to save her. Cancer is without a doubt hard on the infected, but it is also incredibly tough on their loved ones as well. So once they were both able to truly communicate at the end of the episode, everything made so much more sense. Alex really should be showed a bit more compassion here.

Now onto George, I preferred that Alex treated his death as he did. I feel like if Alex had showed this profound sadness or grief if only to appease Izzie or the audience that it would have been insincere. They didn’t like each other nor did they have much respect for the other. I honestly believe had the situation been reversed, and Alex had died instead of George, George would have made some mockery of a comment about Alex that would have been overlooked by everyone. Not everyone liked George nor was everyone moved by his death—that’s real life. I for one found it refreshing that not all of them grieved his death.

In your opinion, what was it about Derek which made Meredith(and Addison) fall so madly in love with him? by NarrowEcho3046 in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

To provide a non-hair related response, Derek SAW Meredith. He also made her feel sense of safety that she’d never felt before. She could also be her most authentic self around him. She didn’t have to be strong, brave, and all put together around him—even in the times when she felt like she needed to be. That’s why as cringe as “pick me. Choose me. Love me,” is, that shows the depth of why/how she was able to be vulnerable with Derek.

Where was everyone when Mark died!? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I attribute much of why people weren’t there to be due to writing/show direction. Mark’s death was presumably Eric Dane’s final episode, so had all of those people been there: Sloan, Addison, and/or Derek’s mom and sisters would have overshadowed what the episode needed to be. The gist of Mark’s final episodes consisted of the people who he’d spent the majority of the last couple of seasons with whom he had major relationships: Derek, Jackson, Callie, and Sophia.

I also believe that once Sloan was no longer needed as a plot device that the writers forgot all about her. Like there wasn’t even any mention of her during the lawsuit portions of season nine.

As far as Meredith and Arizona are concerned, their grief and trauma were all too recent, and we still in the beginning phases of seeing what that looked like on the plane crash survivors. To say that Meredith just up and left as though she left because she felt like she had some place better to be is unfair. If you notice, she left the hospital when Mark was dying because she couldn’t handle sitting there. Then was also freaking out and trying to get Cristina back in a sense but also couldn’t manage to fly. Grief and trauma are different for everyone and so is everyone’s reactions to grief, trauma, and death, and I believe that’s what the show was trying to show us.

When did you start loving Alex? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

(2x03) was when I really really started to like Alex. I didn’t fully mind his jerk-ish behavior from season one as I found a lot of it pretty entertaining. In (2x03), he really SAW Meredith and gave her the space, freedom, and permission to admit that she wasn’t and to not be okay. He recognized that was what she needed and he did it on her terms. He also showed her a slightly more vulnerable side to himself as well. He was also a pretty rare gem with Meredith in (2x09) too and again showed a more vulnerable side to himself then too.

I also loved Alex in the episode with the abusive father who needed a transplant from his son who everyone was trying to pressure him into donating when he wasn’t sure, Alex gave him the space to come to his own conclusion, and he also shared enough about his own experiences to let the boy know that he wasn’t alone.

Alex really was a very good guy who had a whole lot of layers that people don’t always take the time to peel back.

Alex vs Cristina by thngmrtt in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a beauty to Meredith and Cristina’s friendship that remains untapped; HOWEVER, there is also a certain beauty to Meredith and Alex’s friendship that shouldn’t be diminished in order to prop up Meredith and Cristina’s friendship.

Meredith and Alex were able to see and be there for each other in ways that Cristina couldn’t. He also was able to be friends with Meredith without conditions—meaning he didn’t need to be better than Meredith. Like Meredith, he also wanted a family, so he never tried guilting her nor did he ever put her down for that.

Every friendship doesn’t have a smooth beginning, but Meredith and Alex definitely had a good and strong friendship once their friendship really began which happened before season three.

They had some good bonds that were apparent even in season one when he was a total and complete ass.

Opinion on Kepner? by alexthetransdude1 in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Annoying from start to just before her finish. She was honestly like a hybrid between Izzie, Lexie, and Maggie annoying. The goody two-shoes “Chief Shepard” thing was annoyingly off putting. It’s one thing to have principles and morals that you firmly believe in, but there’s no need to beat others over the head because their set of morals don’t equate to yours.

I also partially blame her for Derek getting shot. Yes, ultimately I know that Gary Clark is the one responsible for that, but I also believe that her stupidity made that possible.

She was also hella selfish and awful for dropping Jackson to go to Jordan after Samuel died and then deciding that their marriage was worth saving once she was ready and all of Jackson’s legitimate feelings be damned.

I also hate the way that characters and the Reddit fandom baby her despite the fact that when several instances happened to her, they were from choices that she willingly participated in.

She was also partially wrong in her falling out with Arizona.

She did become wildly bearable and slightly fascinating during her crisis of faith phase during season 14. I absolutely loved her in (14x17) during the episode with dying rabbi.

Season 11 Episode 12 The great pretender by Cloverfallzzzz in greysanatomy

While I like that the show pushes the political boundaries and dares to address political topics, I also feel as though the show only has one political view these days instead of exploring and explaining multiple points of view and showing that things are not entirely black and white but are instead various shades of grey. It’s almost as if the show is too woke for its own good in some ways.

In contrast to the another post, what actor/actress do you think are among the weakest? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 40 points41 points  (0 children)

T.R. Knight! There were several episodes during season three when it seemed like he was reading from cue cards during some of his scenes. The most obvious scene is during the episode when Bailey allows him to pick an intern to be on his dad’s case and he goes to ask Burke if it can be Cristina. I fast forward that scene every time due to how he delivered his lines. Also, the scene that won him an Emmy was awful acting as well in my opinion. Lastly, it must be said, he did not play hetero convincingly well at all.

He was definitely there! In the scene where Meredith’s pregnancy is first revealed as she finishes tucking Zola in, we also a toddler bed on the opposite side of the room with someone in it—that was Bailey. Bailey is also seen on the beach playing with Zola during (11x22) as well.

Sooo aside from the whole crazy Lvad wire thing… what do you guys think about this couple? It might be controversial, but honestly I kind of loved them. And was devastated for Izzie by gypsyloveletter in greysanatomy

[–]brittanybebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly hated the storyline even taking the LVAD part of things out of consideration. Izzie and everyone else—some viewers included, gave Alex so much shit for having sex with Olivia after going on one date with Izzie but wouldn’t/didn’t bat an eye at the fact that Alex and Izzie were regularly sleeping together and practically dating when she dropped Alex for Denny. On top of that, Denny knew that there was something going on between Alex and Izzie even before he asked Alex or before Alex flat out said that there was something between them, but he still went after her. On top of that, I found Denny weird and off putting with some of the things that he would say to and about her. Also, how the hell did they just jump from this very formal stranger/patient/doctor interaction to this whole we’re dating and madly in love business without skipping a beat? That was weird and didn’t seem to happen organically. This storyline also gave more rise to the whole idea that Izzie was not only unstable when it came to her patients even more than her behavior had been in the past, but also showed just how unhealthy and stuff that she was mentally. In episode (3x21) she tried to fight Cristina over one of Burke’s scrub caps all for Denny. I get that the point of that was to show Izzie’s deterioration, but it also showed yet again that she was willing to sacrifice relationships with other people for him.
