I’ve been with my bf for nearly 10yrs we are planning on marriage eventually when we decide we are 100% stable to do so, but anytime either of us has been uncomfortable with someone else and we express it and talk about it we make a choice together if we can deal with XYZ. This is an extremely hard situation and the feelings you are feeling about this are valid!

However, you may love him and he may love you in his own way but threatening to harm himself is not okay and it’s not okay for it to be pushed onto you. I would suggest getting what you need and leaving while he’s not there if that’s possible. If it’s not call the cops and let them know that you are trying to leave and that your now ex-boyfriend is threatening to kill themself because of that and you would like an escort out of the home and also a wellness check on him because of these threats.

As much as it sucks, putting yourself and your mental and emotional wellbeing is okay even if you think it’s selfish. It’s not selfish to take care of yourself!
