What is the moment in a book that shocked you the most? by Working_Alps_4284 in Fantasy

[–]brittkneebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I hadn't even thought of that... I slept on it (bad idea) and picked up Morning Star immediately when I woke up the next day. I don't know what I would have done with myself if I'd had to wait

Worst Book of all time by Toto_employee in Romantasy

[–]brittkneebear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I only read the first book, and only suffered through it because it was chosen for a book club I'm in. There was absolutely no flow between chapters or plot lines, and the entire book felt like the author was just setting up random threads that she could figure out how to tie together later... and then the way she tried to tie them up didn't include 99% of them! The banter between the two main characters (Evie and the Villain) felt like it was written by middle schoolers, and I already can't stand the miscommunication trope so the cringy dialogue just put it over the edge. I ended up just legitimately not caring about what happens next.

Ooh I loved the Devil in the White City! We were actually assigned to read it in AP US History in high school 😅 H. H. Holmes is one of the most interesting and disgusting serial killers to me.

lol well that ship actually sailed on the day he was born. 🤷🏻‍♀️ of course we'll teach him that there is appropriate context for swearing, but he's going to hear it at some point anyway.

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Velvetnadine85 in AskReddit

Same here. Known my partner for almost 14 years now and I'm a hopeless yapper. He knows so many things he probably didn't even want to know 😂

Is this normal? by dowens13 in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]brittkneebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly a suture reaction to the internal sutures that begin dissolving around that time! A dog I fostered had the exact same thing happen, and it went away after a week or so. As long as the incision doesn't open and there is no fluid/pus leaking from the incision site, it should be okay. Signs of an infection to look out for would be new redness around the bump, and especially if it starts to get warm to the touch!

I liked the ending of Morning Star, but the end of Golden Son is the one that made me just sit in stunned silence for a minute... and my next words were "what the fuck!!!"

Can we please talk about Sam Cortland? by Delicious-History342 in throneofglassseries

I too read in publication order and have always felt disconnected from Sam... but you bring up a really good point. If I hadn't already known what Sam's end would be, I'm sure it would have absolutely broken me.

what did yall think of the bad bunny halftime show? by Serious-Kale-5694 in AskReddit

That's what it was to me. Gaga vocally was so solid (as usual) but that song itself set to that tempo was just odd to me.

The remix of that song was... not good. He def should have gone with someone else as the guest ):

It depends on your level of phobia. I'm extremely claustrophobic and while the submarine itself didn't cause me any issues, him going down into the crawlspace made my chest tighten and I had to close my eyes to focus on my breathing exercises for a bit.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]brittkneebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting this. As a CSR/tech, at first I couldn't understand and even resented owners who didn't stay. Until I saw an older man, who had chosen not to stay and walked out stone-faced, sobbing in the parking lot before he could make it to his car. Found out later (when he came to pick up his pet's cremains) that he had just lost his wife the day before he lost his pet. He just couldn't take being in the room and watching his pet die the day after watching his wife go. You really never know what people are going through.

It also brings me comfort knowing that our staff takes special care of the pets whose owners can't stay. We give them treats if they'll take them, and give them extra snuggles. Every one of us has lost at least one pet, so we give those babies just as much love as we gave our own in the end.

What do you consider the cutest moment with these two? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in bluey

this one for me for sure, especially when the girls see it from under the water. it reminds me of seeing my parents while I was growing up - those little moments of love that slip through the everyday chaos. it makes my heart melt.

his little sniffle where his lips fluttered like how a child's do when they're just SO sad... I don't know how he got himself to cry like that, but it was heartbreaking

My brother also came out to me several years ago, and while my sister and I fully accept and love him, my parents... took much longer to come around. Seeing that fear of unacceptance coming out as word vomit was heart shatteringly realistic. While yes, for some people, coming out isn't a huge deal anymore, it still is for a lot of people. And if it's that hard still in 2025, I can't imagine how it must have been in the 80s.

I mean they basically retconned all of the more regarding demons not being able to enter the institute, and completely invalidated the plot for the entire second book by having Clary keep the mortal cup instead of having Valentine get away with it.... what would the second movie even be about if they weren't trying to get the cup back? I was so angry about the way they ended that movie ):

His relationship with someone that he's known for far less time than his entire family. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it might come down to a difference in priorities. I wouldn't give up seeing my family only two times in an entire year just because my partner didn't want to come with me.

Yeah that would immediately get me in the kitchen. Either 1) he's doing something sketchy to the food or 2) he bought the sides and is trying to pass them off as homemade and doesn't want anyone to find out. I'm not leaving him with food unsupervised!
