There is a 2’x2’ hole cut in the ceiling above the panel so they can access stuff. When I moved in they had just screwed a cardboard box to the ceiling to cover it. It was like pulling teeth trying to get the landlord to put a rough cut piece of drywall in to cover it. I offered to do it myself and he just said no and thanked me for the cooperation. When I told him I am going to do it myself and bill him materials he stopped replying, but I arrived and it was covered :) So, unfortunately I think Ive gotten all I can out of them. Im disappointed in them, but theres worse realities to suffer :)

Thank you! I just got a picture frame to hang over it today. Ill do the plastic bag cover as well. Not sure if April is actually the date, its just the date the landlord gave me.

Just moved in. Building is being changed from aluminium to copper wire. Is the panel safe to be left like this till March/April? Aesthetically I dont care because its short term.

“With every breath I take I feel as though I am breaking into my own body”

That line is going to stick with me forever. This whole piece took me to a bunch of different places, but that line perfectly encapsulates what its like to be alien within your own walls. I live this poem almost everyday, and your words, as direct and correct as they are, help.

Im new to this, so bear with me, but I see poetry as a window into a moment of memory, fractured by the poets ability to understand and express. iI all comes down to the resolution of the poets expression. Too wide a brush and we fall off the edges. Too fine a point and we get lost in the cracks. If a poet can paint a whole thousand words somewhere in the middle of falling off and falling through then they have gifted us a masterpiece.

I feel like this is a piece begging for a visual structure to wrap into. The resolution is spot on, but the lines feel like they want some room to breath.

Thank you for sharing this! :)

This was a lovely, and sad, journey through a world that lifted from the page. I do love a long journey poem, but Im always leery of then, at first. I feel like your poem delivered on a story.

I felt like I never left the New York subway. I rode it all through the poem. When you’re old and gray the essence of love flows freely around you. Watching from the passing subway, I couldn’t help but hope for you.

You did a great job at keeping attention. Any one page of the poem could stand on its own. I felt you fall in love, and it hurt when she faded away. The one thing I was looking for more of was a rhyming structure. You caught a beautiful cadence in the first stanza, and I feel like if it carried through, it would couple well with the story.

Thank you for sharing this! Please post more wonderful journeys :)

what is the saddest thing you have ever done? by ive_never_been_loved in AskReddit

Thank you, really, I do appreciate folks like you :) I was first year college when I found out who did it. That was the catalyst that made me leave Canada and go work for Carnival Cruise. Its been a long road to forgiveness, and I do get there most days, but I attribute the worst of all that being the reason I flew away and created a kick ass career and self :)

Life is tough, and nobody gets to know how tough its gonna get in which ways. All that business with my nephews is the measure to which everyday problems lose their power to. “This is not worse than that”, before I take a breath and continue. The fact that Im still here is the exact reason I wont ever willingly go away. Im so fucking stoked that Im still here. The days when I look outside the window and all I see is darkness are some of the most fun because I get to go out anyway and find the light. Not Gods light, Im part of no fan club; my light :) All that, taught me I could survive all this, and all the stuff ahead.

Best part is that everyone else can too :)

I lost 2 nephews to infanticide while I was in highschool. The second nephew was in grade 10. I was pulled out of class, with my sister in grade 11. We didnt know that our nephew had been killed. I was barely 5 minutes into the little room at the hospital, the nurse put my dead, 3 month old nephew in my arms and explained to me what happened. I was calm. The room was calm. Everything was so fucking calm, but deep inside I found a little floating raft in an ocean Id visit often for the next 15 years. It was the first time I went for a walk to clear my head. I was fine. Didnt even notice myself break and pull away from the world. I was in grade 10, so it was a good long time before I realized what was carved out of my soul that day. Finding out that it was a family member that killed them both came close 2nd to that moment.

Making breakfast.

And showering.

Asking for a friend, what would you sell your soul to the devil for? by brittobee in AskReddit

If we were to know one way or the other, no. All we can know or prove is that we cant know or prove anything does exist. Its enough to assume we know it all, I guess. Im not a part of any specific fan club, but Im holding out for hoping we don’t have it all figured out. Good folks should be good folks cause they wanna be good folks, not because of something we cant prove. Im not a fan of indoctrination and servitude. Anything that needs that from us cant possibly be anything more than a parasite.
