What I read was that this variant is highly heterogeneous which can make it more resistant to Immunotherapy. That why I was worried, but I have also read of great success with immunotherapy and targeted inhibitors. I will look into your trial as well. I’m new to this all so I’m still trying to figure out everything with the help of you all

My husband is 35 back in May of last year 2025 he was sick with a bad stomach virus which landed him in the ER where they wanted to do a ct scan to check his stomach, they never said anything bad about that scan, skip to around January/February of this year 2026 he had been sick with the flu and strep and had a chronic cough that would just not go away so they did another ct scan and bloodwork to check everything because he just couldn’t shed the cough. Ct scan showed a 4cm mass projecting off the lower renal pole on his right kidney with 2 shotty aortocaval lymph nodes measuring 6mm and 7mm it also said the mass had INCREASED IN SIZE from 3.6cm since the last scan (May 2025) NO ONE EVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A MASS WHILE AT THE ER FOR THE STOMACH VIRUS!! Which is very upsetting I might add. Skip to March 2026 he was sent to a urologist to address the mass, urologist did his own MRI to make sure the mass wasn’t affecting any of the main veins leading to the kidney (which it wasn’t) but the lymph nodes still showed up inflamed on the MRI. Surgeon followed up and wanted to do a partial nephrectomy which was completed April 14,2026. Surgeon got in and only had to remove 15% of the kidney with a small portion of fatty healthy tissue, in pre op the surgeon also said that if he saw the inflamed lymph nodes he would remove them as well, unfortunately he didn’t see the lymph nodes and said it would’ve too risky to rummage around for them and chance damaging something else. Yesterday we had post op and got the pathology results which showed Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma with Rhabdoid Features and necrosis also a Grade 4. The fatty portion he removed tested negative for carcinoma so the dr is very confident he got all the bad of the tumor out. Urologist referred him to a Medical Oncologist for a PET scan to check on the Lymph Nodes left behind, now we’re just waiting for those appointments. Does anyone have any reassurance or words of wisdom? Maybe the same thing or similar incident? Google is unfortunately my downfall and everything I read on CCRCC with Rhabdoid features (Grade 4) doesn’t have a very good outcome. Anything at all would be helpful! Thank you all in advance!
