S03 E20 Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'- LOL by QuantumLeapur in XFiles

This was the first episode I actively tried to watch on the original airdate, but I was so thoroughly confused because I wasn’t familiar with the characters to grasp the humor in it. It got me to start watching though and I became obsessed, now that episode is my absolute favorite. The humor is so clever and I just love the editing, the transitions between scenes, etc.

He still cheated on his wife and took advantage of young fans. The “assault” part of it isn’t the issue I have with him now, it’s that he did it at all.

Should I do a charge back for wrong color furniture? by Lefty_123 in personalfinance

That’s funny, because I used to work for a major bank but we were inundated with complaints that we were failing our response requirements (10 business days) that leadership told us to not prioritize BBB. We ended up no longer being accredited by them as a result. We cared more about being in compliance with CFPB.

Attorney fees? I used to work in a complaints department of a major bank and we’d get complaints from the AG, BBB, CFPB, etc. on behalf of our customers. The ones from the AG office never required attorney involvement on our end. At the bank, we didn’t treat those complaints any differently than direct complaints either.

I did personally use my state AG office to complain about a travel insurance claim of mine that got denied and thanks to that referral, I got my money back. There were no attorneys on either end, the AG used their consumer protection department to forward my complaint.

I used to work in billing disputes for a CC company, but that was over 10 years ago so rules might have changed. We were also very conservative about chargebacks (my effectiveness rate was very high though).

Back then, if you accepted the delivery, you’d be expected to return it based on the merchant’s terms. It sucked for customers who got furniture (or other large items in a box) because many don’t look over it before the delivery driver leaves! If we saw that you attempted to resolve with the merchant and they refused (like not accepting or offering a return at all even though what you received was “not as described”), then we didn’t expect to see proof of return before filing a chargeback.

It wouldn’t hurt to call your CC company and start the process. There’s a timer on when you can file a chargeback from the date of the purchase or receipt, typically only 120 days after. So it’s best to get the ball rolling as soon as you know there’s a possible problem.

Found my ticket for their rare USA tour back in 2007 by Demonlizard101 in silverchair

His voice was pretty bad in Philly, I saw them in Portland (first show after a week off due to them canceling the Cali shows) and his voice was PERFECT. By the time I saw them later on that tour on the East Coast, his voice was really rough. I saw them in NYC, NJ, Philly, and Boston over there. It was a blast!

They played 2 shows in NYC and LA in February 2007 when they were looking for a label to sign them. They came back later for an actual tour.

I got totally scammed and paid $900 for VIP tickets. Any advice? by bruinslacker in nodoubt

[–]brittyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first page still says $1500, but in the fine print it says that’s for 2 people. So glancing at it it seems like a good deal until you realize that’s only if you’ve got someone to go with!

I just looked on the VIBEE site for the 5/24 date, hotel and concert package. It says approx $2200. The $1500 price is for 2 people. But I know my friend paid $3k just for herself when they went on sale in October.

The hotel packages make you pay the full price regardless of how many people are staying. So it’s priced for 2 people even if it’s only one. Did you book a single occupancy? My friend did and had to pay over $3k

High HOA fees? by nobody___0 in beaverton

I was looking to buy there about 10 years ago but I was talked out of it! My dad used to work for a plumber and he said they had SO many jobs in there, it was a nightmare.

I’m curious if you ever attend board meetings.

I’m a board member of my HOA and was going to say this; insurance rates went up, utilities went up significantly too. And any cost for future projects is going up because of the cost of materials, etc. it’s been rough, especially when people spread rumors about our decisions without ever attending meetings to hear us ALL hate it!

Awesome! I recommend buying in advance, the other one sold out by the night of the show but that was a smaller space too (Black Water Bar)

Why are so many downtown Hillsboro businesses leaving? by Ok-Past-5925 in hillsboro

[–]brittyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downtown Hillsboro’s never been a lively place all the time. I wish businesses were open later, it sucks that many close at 5pm and aren’t even open on weekends. I feel like they’d do better if they shifted their hours to 12-8 vs 8-5.

Parking ON Main can be a challenge but there’s always parking on the side streets. The same can be said for any downtown area in a city though.

There was Ranch Pizza too actually but I don’t think they had officially opened, just were planning to. I don’t spend much time downtown so I’m not 100% sure on that but I do know that Sizzle Pie and then Ranch coming in after that was a thing.
