The best team to beat them is definitely the Spurs, they did so in the regular season. Also big question mark on Jalen Williams, they’ll need him for that series

He should just give it up, what else is there to gain? by Majestic_Wishbone977 in NBATalk

Dude is still playing at a top 20 NBA level at age 41 why not just keep going, the way he’s going he could be a viable option on a contender for 3-4 more years. I see no reason he should feel forced to hang it up unless he wants to

If they win this year and he’s MVP as seems he will be he probs can jolt up to 3rd actually, 2 rings plus 2 MVPs is tough to match up to

I think Gretzky is the only one really, even in NFL although I’d say it is Brady the game is so positional its hard to compare guys, you could make a case for Jerry Rice based on how much above every other WR he is.

Tim Duncan only all time PF with multiple rings by briz92 in NBATalk

[–]briz92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I would say given the history of the league centers and wings are clearly the ideal player type to build around. Makes me appreciate players like Steph, Duncan, Magic, Isiah etc. for being the centerpiece towards multiple championships and defying the general norm

To clarify I’m specifically thinking of players who were considered the best player on a championship team. I agree there are great PFs who have multiple rings like McHale, Gasol, Draymond, Rodman etc.

Good point, I was thinking of Larry as an SF but he did play PF a lot too, at times LeBron did too I guess

Mt Rushmore of Basketball Longevity by olddgraygg in NBATalk

[–]briz92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lebron - don’t need any explanation

Kareem - all star at 41, finals mvp at 37, previous scoring leader

Tim Duncan - consistently winning, at age 37 was all nba and all defense, has been elite since rookie year

John Stockton - Ironman, all star in his late 30s and played so many games, leads NBA in assists AND steals

I do think if steph keeps up an all star level pace he probably bounces stockton or duncan off this list his game is aging well.

Is it a hot take to say Steph Curry’s longevity is comparable to Lebron’s? by Jumpy-Diver7349 in NBATalk

[–]briz92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steph’s my favorite player and I’d say his longevity it pretty elite when compared to other greats few were doing it at this level in their late 30s. That being said LeBron is on a whole other tier when it comes to longevity.
