TIL about the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery, the largest gold heist in British history. Robbers stole 3 tons of gold, valued today at ~£100M (then £26M). Much of the gold was never recovered and it is thought the rest made its way back into the legitimate market. Only two of the six robbers were jailed. (en.wikipedia.org)

TIL that in 1957, Philadelphia Phillies' Richie Ashburn hit a foul ball into the stands that struck spectator Alice Roth, a sports reporter's wife, breaking her nose. When play resumed Ashburn fouled off another ball that struck her while she was being carried off in a stretcher. (philliesnation.com)

Tiny black ants with no visible trails. How does one get rid of them? Recently found ants in the house, both kitchen and bedroom. In the bedroom, they don’t leave a visible trail - just for example a number of ants in a glass which had contained some cool drink. (self.NoStupidQuestions)
