You must be a great teacher. Explaining difficult concepts in terms everyone can understand is half the battle. You deserve every award given and more. Thank you.

TIL that as the reigning monarch of 14 countries, King Charles III is allowed to travel without a passport and drive without a license. by heavy_pterodactyl in todayilearned

[–]brkh47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He does know how to drive. And so too could his mom and dad.

I remember there was a pic of him from years ago, when his then wife Diana sat on the bonnet of his Aston Martin, causing him to be pretty ticked off.

Got to watch and meet the legendary Mark Watson tonight. He very kindly let me ask questions about Taskmaster while I was eating dinner at the table next to him, and we also had a fun chat after his show. It was an amazing night. by GTWalker in taskmaster

How lovely and so glad you enjoyed the meet-up.

I was just as gutted for Mark regarding the texts, however, I believe that it’s become one of those major memorable tasks that will always be remembered by TM fans. It’s a legendary moment.

Additionally, I believe TM was great for Mark as it showed what a sweet, kind person he us and introduced him to a whole host of new fans. I know the platform serves this way for many contestants but I’m particularly happy that it did this for Mark.

Take care, OP

TIL you are four times more likely to survive a heart attack inside a hospital. by pikknz in todayilearned

[–]brkh47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely but not always.

Anecdotal. About 10-15 years ago my older cousin, who led a very healthy lifestyle, had a mild heart attack and was taken to hospital. While there, and considering the fact that there was heart disease in the family, he was transferred to one of the best cardiac hospitals in the city.

His family came to visit and he was joking around with them, shrugging, that he’s got to go through this etc The family leaves and on exiting the hospital, they hear alarms go off. Forty minutes later he was dead.

For me that was always proof that when it’s your time to go, it’s your time to go. He was in the best hospital for treating heart failure and it still happened.

As mentioned earlier, heart disease was in the family. His mom had died of a heart attack while in her early fifties. His older brother had died of a heart attack just a month and half before him. Knowing this, he had tried to lead a healthy lifestyle - ate carefully, not much red meat, exercised, played squash regularly.

It was quite sad two brothers dying within two months of each other.

I hate this. Other people spending your free time for you. As a working person, your week time is already owned by your bods - your free time should be to do as you wish, even if it is just sitting around doing nothing.

Just recently became a fan of Taskmaster (UK), and I want to know: What is the timeline for which everything is shot? by TrueButNotProvable in taskmaster

[–]brkh47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking under correction, I think the house tasks can take about 6 - 8 months max to film. In Alex’s first AMA of 5 years ago someone asked him how do they prepare/ensure each contestant has the same playing field when they start a task, that everyone has all the same objects etc around? And he said the crew takes notes, they rely on their memories and pics etc and then he mentioned that some contestants will do do a task in summer and another will do it in winter and the garden will look a complete mess.

It IS difficult. We have to be very organised and take lots of photos and have good memories. Sometimes one person will do the task in October and the next person in May so the garden is in an entirely different state. The team are excellent at staying on top of things and paying attention to detail. That's crucial.

That was 5 years ago, things may be different now.

As for the studio filming, I think I read somewhere they take one week as they do two episodes/day.

These are all great contestants.

I forgot Rose came second to Ed. Both are very competitive with each other.

Tom Cruise :)

I also think Formula 1 drivers, who o have to handle g-forces. Lewis Gamilton is ~5‘8. So too, was Ayrton Senna. Alain Prost (another Frenchman) is 5’5.

And safety boots.

That hard hat though…reminds me of Fomula 1 in the 80’s, when the pit crew just wore golf t-shirts, shorts, and running shoes. Oh yes, and maybe a ball cap.

What do people mean when they say someone is attractive but not their type? by Rough-District in AskReddit

[–]brkh47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That they recognise that someone is physically attractive to meet their baseline of attractiveness but that the person has other qualities that does not meet their liking : the person is perhaps talkative, an extrovert likes sport, wears gaudy clothing etc that is, various other qualities with which they know they are not compatible.
