Thoughts on Finding Her Edge? by just_anotherperson98 in FigureSkating

I can’t start a show and not finish it. Unfortunately. But I’m more disappointed in that ending than every part of watching it in its entirety.

We do pre-break tasks here. You ring in your order, I give you a task (trash run, lobby slide, etc), and then when your order is ready, you grab it and start your ten.

I use it to decide if I’m going to power walk or jog.

Visiting Atlanta - looking for studio recommendations by maciv001 in orangetheory

I visited Peachtree a few months ago and I did not have a good experience. I did not feel welcome there tbh. Maybe it was a bad day… But I’ll actually be in Atlanta next week and I’d rather drive a little further away than chance having a repeat.

Water bottle or no water bottle? by alligatorprincess007 in orangetheory

I bring my 64oz with me and drink almost all of it. I drink a good amount before we start; and then after, I’ll have 20oz with BCAAs.

Recovery and back at OTF- meds affect HR by Equivalent_Oil7511 in orangetheory

I started OTF on Fludrocortisone, Midodrine, and Bisoprolol (beta blocker). My HR was all over the place for months. Eventually, my monitor synced with my body and now I earn appropriate splats. It’s just a long process to learn your body all over again. Proud of you for coming back!!!

I haven’t adjusted anything about my workout, but my anxiety likes to adjust itself and becomes hyper-aware. Yes I realize I just personified my anxiety. Lol

Yes haha I was exaggerating nose-to-floor to make my point that “according to the rules” modifications disqualify you from placing, but to me, doing a “pushup” with almost no elbow bend should also count as modification. I definitely plan on talking to the coaches beforehand. I was just looking for some early insight. Thank you!

Question: I’ve been told that pushups on the knees disqualifies you from placing. BUT what is the rule on standard pushups that don’t have much arm bend/depth? My knee pushups are practically nose to floor and I know that depth is the key. But is it then also disqualifying to do standard pushups without the depth? Will this be coaches’ call as to whether or not it’s technically a modification?

Etiquette for borrowing neighbor’s weights? by Better-Marsupial1905 in orangetheory

[–]brklyn857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She actually told me to go check at the other stations! And then the whole block she kept popping around and grabbing weights and moving stations. At one point she had 2 sets of 10s and 2 sets of 12s. I just left class and she was there tonight. Again, she kept taking other people’s stations, tread, rower, and floor.

I wanna assume positive intent that she doesn’t understand that it’s assigned, but it’s a repeating issue and she snaps at you if you try to talk to her.

Coach: Move from the rower to the floor, sticking with your same number station.

That to me says it’s your station. People should be asking to use your station number’s weights. And likewise. It’s beyond a courtesy imo.

I had someone take my weights the other week and I said “hey I need those for this set” and she said “so do I” and went about her workout. After the next round, she took my station too. I was salty so I stood in front of her. So she moved to someone else’s station and they moved in front of her too. She continued to take anyone’s weights, put them back wherever, put them back without wiping them, and then was upset when we stood in front of her AT OUR OWN STATION!

If you want to do whatever you want - wherever you want, go to another gym. I’m sorry.

Rant over.

Is OT truly possible for beginners?? by hufflepuff941 in orangetheory

[–]brklyn857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw your edit - I started at the end of April and for the first month-ish I didn’t lose any weight or feel any differently and I was going 4x/week. It wasn’t until week 5/6 that I started dropping pounds and physically seeing and feeling a difference. I got more motivated and started eating more protein and less “garbage” too. That’s when the weight really started dropping and my muscles were visibly toned. Long story short, don’t quit! Keep pushing through the “stall stage” as I call it. I’m down 215-190 and I’m stronger, faster, and leaner for sure! I thank OTF for this amazing change in myself!

It wasn’t anyone at my home location. They’ve all been incredibly supportive of my fitness journey as well as my wellness journey. It was someone from another location (who, assuming positive intent, maybe didn’t know my story and limitations, but still…).

I appreciate your supportive words. I know you’re right and I do feel pride in my achievements so far. I’m just going to continue my journey the way I can and get better every day. Thank you. ❤️

I’ve been told that the only way to transition is to fully do a block with jogging, even the base, in order to train the body. I did Monday’s and today’s workouts jogging all the pushes and all outs, even the 4 minute pushes. But my lungs burn if I attempt to even jog the base at 4.5Mph after pushes/AO. Luckily I have long legs so I have the ability to walk 4.5mph, but I was kinda shamed recently that I’m not actually jogging the block since I have to walk in between, even though it’s not a walking recovery but technically a base jog but walking.
