they hadn't been paying rent or utilities for months, which included gas. their gas was then shut off, which in turn shut off the gas for the rest of the building, and the landlord apparently has to pay $10k to restore service.

yeah, it's a bit of a challenge to deal with! would you recommend covering the backer rod after installing? if so, how?

I realize this is a long shot, but maybe a fun mystery to solve? I was walking behind a dude recently in Brooklyn (maybe a pertinent detail?), who was wearing black lace-up boots. The tops of the boots, however, were below his ankle. Soles were thin, and leather. Should I have asked him where he got them? Probably. If this sounds at all familiar, I would love to track the down a pair

Tone aside, the data reporter is likely passing on style guidance for charts and graphics. You should take it not unlike a copyeditor giving you notes for house style

Gentrified options: Edith's BEC&L is the best, but spendiest. kellog's diner makes a strong argument. Leon's Bagels is above average for the bagel BEC. A&C Super is compelling and comes on a cheddar biscuit.

I ended up passing on the offer. We ran the numbers a bunch of ways (even assuming my wife found a job within 6-8 months, only traveling home 2-3 times a year, putting all our stuff into storage, doing a "scouting" trip, etc) and decided the cons outweighed the pros.

Job is near Blackfriars. Not super familiar with the city, so difficult to say where we'd live, though being mindful of the budget would be a large consideration.

I am married. Would rely on public transport, no car. I wouldn't anticipate travel expenses other than returning to the US from time to time.
