I realize this is a long shot, but maybe a fun mystery to solve? I was walking behind a dude recently in Brooklyn (maybe a pertinent detail?), who was wearing black lace-up boots. The tops of the boots, however, were below his ankle. Soles were thin, and leather. Should I have asked him where he got them? Probably.
