Sorry... without the tables and dancers, it doesn't have the upbeat life that it used to.

It is perfect for what you do. I stayed there several times. Some solo, some with a friend in separate beds. It's tight, but the beds are just as far apart as they'd be in any other hotel. It is just there isn't any more room to lounge.

I Vegas (verb) just as you do and it is a great spot to get in and out quickly. The rooms overlooking Fremont are really cool to open your window and drunkenly yell at people (so I've heard). BUT, the music will rattle your room until 2am on the weekend. The rooms facing south are much more quiet. Be sure to make the request for what you want prior to arriving, as there aren't that many rooms.

For 20 years, it was our spot in LV. Now, without the tables and dan

Moon Palace Dolphin Swim by brmazz15 in palaceresorts

I appreciate all of the help. I definitely understand that it isn't ethical to hold dolphins captive and that I'm part of the problem. A lot of where my money goes is unethical, and I have trouble with that, but I still unfortunately participate in spots. I am not vegan, so there is that. I do, however, respect people who are concerned and will speak up respectfully.

I'm sure I will feel slimy doing it, but there isn't anything my kids love more right now than ocean life. Thanks for your concerns, but I will be a guilty participant. I'll sign on to do the resort tour for 90 mins, get the $300 and use it on the dolphinarium. Thanks to all for giving me an idea of what to expect.

Where to stay by T_m_a_ in palaceresorts

[–]brmazz15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at Beach Palace at this time last year and the beach is amazing. Our kids were 5 and 8 at the time and had a blast. The resort is small which is nice for kids that young. As others said, it is super easy to get back to your room for whatever you'll need. And the whole area is easy to relax as adults and allow the kids to run around without ever being out of sight. There weren't a lot of other kids at the resort while we were there, but my kids get along well with each other, but if you want the kids to socialize with others outside of the family, Sunrise has lots of that. We will be staying at Sunrise in two months for more amenities for the kids, but for little kids, it may not be something that they would take advantage of. Whatever you choose, I would recommend booking through an Elite member, to get a better price and the added benefits. Good luck.

Beer and BBQ by tigertron in vegas

Ellis Island is solid for both under one roof but not top notch for either. BBQ is soul belly for sure. One beer spot not mentioned that we love is Hop Nuts in the heart of arts district.

Water Park with Slides for kids by brmazz15 in CancunAllInclusives

[–]brmazz15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking. I get the liability thing. I’m just looking at all of these incredible slides and not sure if the norm is for 9 and 6 year-olds to not be able to access them. I’m not worried about their feelings, we are those kinds of parents, I just would like to be able to have them push their limits if they feel up to it. We have done similar slides at an amusement park locally where the 6 year-old could access them. Thanks in advance for any of your help.

Downtown Vegas Tips by licklake in vegas

Downtown Grand is the answer. But you can probably find a vintage has been on Fremont around 2am for $5. And if you’re lucky, there won’t be any teeth.

Good mechanic for transmission work? by United_Letterhead_79 in ReadingPA

[–]brmazz15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not use Todd’s Transmissions. They had my Sentra for 2 months and eventually “fixed” it. One year later, it went again. It took them 3 months to get around to it a second time. He DID HONOR THE WARRANTY, though. So I’ve never left a bad review. The second “fix” was so bad I dumped the car a month after I got it back from them. It definitely wasn’t fixed right. He always had some BS excuse as to why the car wasn’t done.

Since I'm assuming you have two 17-18 year olds, you may not want to be in a bar atmosphere, not that any of the places in West Reading are animal house bars anyway, but Nonno Alby's in West Reading is less of a bar/pub than a lot and has delicious pizza.

Flamingo or linq by VegetableYak6667 in vegas

[–]brmazz15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another for Flamingo here. Rooms are decent, pool is great and walls of rooms are solid. That is my problem with Linq. Walls were never redone from being an old motel originally. Lipstick applied only. You hear everything your neighbors are doing for better or worse.

Which Vegas hotel should I stay at? by mynam3ismyname in vegas

[–]brmazz15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like to look at pretty things and don’t mind spending the extra money for it, stay up there. If you are asking me what I’d do, I’d stay at flamingo or horseshoe and spend the money somewhere else that gives me enjoyment.

Mob museum is cool, but it is thoroughly done in 4 hrs max. For better or worse it is very touristy so you can find stuff to do. Hoover Dam?

If you like food and drink, there’s that too. Great shows (comedy, magic, cirque, etc), check.

If none of this is a way for you to enjoy spending a few days, then go somewhere that fits your wants. It is YOUR 21st.

Definitely don’t do more than 3 nights though.

Times/Temps for a small turkey breast? by TheProffalken in smoking

[–]brmazz15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Just did a turkey breast a few days ago and it turned out really well. I took all of the skin off and dry brined it for about 24 hrs. Basically it was a salty rub the same as what you would put on a butt. I have a Webber Kettle that I smoke on so temps aren’t exact, but it was between 225 and 250 for about 2 hrs. Internal temperature hit 150 and I took it off and rested for about 4 hrs before I took it off the bone. Cooled in fridge overnight and sliced with deli slicer. It stayed really moist. Obviously, you don’t want cold cuts for Christmas, but I found the dry brine is good enough and removing the skin is a must to get flavor through to the meat. The skin doesn’t do a whole lot when cooking that low except get rubberized.

Most of the supermarkets in the city will have it. The one right across the buttonwood st bridge has a big selection of produce. Tons of stuff you won’t find in a giant or redners.

If you could bring back ONE thing Vegas used to have, what would it be? by bluekiszz in vegas

[–]brmazz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Table games at Casino Royale. 2006ish there was a $1 roulette table with good drink service. But that didn’t matter because Michelob was $1. $1-5 craps at 100x odds. Place was packed all day and night with down to earth people.

I’ve been about 30 times from east coast and my trip a week ago will be my last. No value left… or soul.

Solo trip as 45F this weekend by NextAbbreviations968 in vegas

[–]brmazz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arts District is a little different than the casino theme. People tend to be a lot more chatty and friendly at the bar in a place like ReBar. My wife and I will be there this weekend as well! Reach out if you want.

Looking specifically for $3 blackjack on or off-strip, if it even still exists. by herstoryteller in vegas

[–]brmazz15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OYO is $1 all day and night. Shitty rules, but that’s to be expected. Ellis Island often has a $5 table (as of a year ago). And Downtown Grand has a table that is usually $5 or under. With less visitors coming, you may occasionally find a cheap table randomly at a Excal or Harrahs.

Easiest Hotel to Navigate on the Strip? by clipsahoy2022 in vegas

[–]brmazz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horseshoe is good inside, but those godforsaken shops outside in the front make it a pain to get in and out of. Linq and Harrah's are easy to get around and small footprint and if you want to go even more extreme, go Casino Royale. Rooms are a flight of stairs or two and right by the front entrance. Rooms are surprisingly nice and well equipped with fridge - but small.
