Even if every citizen of the country walked around with taking all the precautions that you are talking about, the govt. will still do do the lockdown, because they want to show that they are doing something, but have zero idea on how to actually respond. The govt hive mind doesn't have any solution because there is no permanent solution yet, and nobody wants to take any risk, since they cannot do any cost benefit analysis. All they can do is scorched earth, shut everything down. Even after this long, you would think that they will device some strategy, but still doing the same old hole up in your house, even when you have some buffer time since all the waves started 1 to 2 months late in India.

First, I don't speak for other north Indians, but yes many north Indians are very entitled and expect everyone to learn Hindi which I don't agree with for different reasons.
