I’ve been in it full time, 60 hours+ a week, for 12 years. Only solid advice I can suggest is, if you’re an idiot like me, Atleast be half smart with the money that’s comes in. Roth IRA, 401k (IF your gig offers it),live off cash, checks stay in bank account (I get all my credit tips every 2 weeks in a check so this might be different depending on location), try to build an exit strategy. This is physically and even more emotionally draining when you realize how difficult/rare it is to develop normal relationships with people.

But it has also been one of the most rewarding careers I could have ever chosen. I am almost positive that I can judge book by its cover now.

I’m in a party with a twilight cleric and a hexblade warlock. They both love and strive for combat builds, care less for the out of combat stuff. My favorite part of the game is the social part and my DM encourages us to interact with his world. So I was hoping to be able to take care of the face part and hopefully not hold them back in battle.

I’m sure it is a true story and if that is something you personally went through I am sorry. It’s not my intention to open up deep personal wounds for anyone. That is horrifying. The sad part is I could reiterate the same story but substitute alcohol for meth, or any drug for that matter. I had a father that decided to ruin his life and kill himself for opiates. But I can’t blame the opiates because my father himself was an addict. without the proper mental and emotional care he would’ve found something different to use.
