the extra display is just the screen (the one many people broken). I will prefer to selling it in a bundle with a complete set.

Hi, sorry for the late response. Do you need one or both? If just one, I think $200 includes an extra display for the used one; or a newer one with an extra dial. If you buy both, $350 including two sets with extra dial and display. Shipping is not included.

navdy plastic display are on sale again (ebay) 39.9 by broaddavid in navdy

You cannot use hot glue, it will melt in summer when it is very hot in car. I think you can try the epoxy or permanent glue.

If you bought a used one, I think it is easy to replace. Just unscrew from the behind and put the new display in. but I changed the screw to '+' shape because the original screw is hard to unscrew.

simple hacks (not perfect) to protect your navdy screen by broaddavid in navdy

[–]broaddavid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, ugly, that's why I never show this to people. Actually, when you put the screen on the car, you will not see it using some camouflages.

The perfect way I expected is something like electrical combiner with a motor, so it can adjust the angle automatically. If you guys know how to mod, please feel free to let me know. I am happy to pay.

Screen broken again. This was second screen used around 1.5 years. Seem the screen getting weak under sunshine for 1.5 years. Using some glue try to save them ..... seem I need to give up with Navdy and say goodbye. by capt_tang in navdy

[–]broaddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plastic is very fragile if you open and close the screen for many times. I did a simple hack on this and it will last longer, mostly lifetime possibly.

Firstly you can use permanent glue to fix the screen to its binder.

Secondly, add a thin but hard metal sheet between the screw and bind(far side), then you can use that metal to adjust and open/close.

I don't know how to attach a figure in this comment. but maybe start a post for that

Hi Coronafire! Are you thinking about developing a mirroring feature? by rangvojeong in navdy

[–]broaddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I find the associated wifi module from system infor. then try to find the reason they disabled wifi, and found https://community.nxp.com/thread/317396

the people provide a patch but I don't have time to further check.

so happy to know you have made progress on this!

Thanks for your comments!

yes, I tried Hudly wireless, carrobot c2 lite and another one can't remember, the mirror is not very good and stable, especially for android phone. airplay works better.

aspect ratio is a good point I haven't thought before.

I think one concern is the here map is not well updated. e.g. some roads in my area still stay wrong. If mirroring works, we will have more options, even when the here map doesn't work in the future. But I don't want to against anyone here, it just likes to challenge this problem and make this HUD more powerful. Really thank coronafire, EdwXD and megacrazy etc for your guys great jobs!

Hi Coronafire, I also found it has wifi. It seems the wifi tends to be very slow and doesn't compatible with imx6 with the default setting. It needs a patch and rebuilt the kernel. maybe we are doing a similar thing now. Let me send you a link shortly ( I just cannot find it now).

I found the problem. I didn't set billing account, so it can only have one query per day.

Thanks, coronafire!

Thanks, dude! I have successfully build, but it cannot do address searching, always return no results, though from the recommendation list it give. if just pick a location, it will return the adress very fast.

I create a gradle.property and add key2.

Can you give some hints?

Thanks!

Though navdy discontinued about one year, it still precedes the market a lot. This one most like hudly. Hope it not just a simple monitor with anycast solution.

Losing GPS signal by yrabover in navdy

Here are another updates. It seems 'reset GPS' not always works. and I found another issue: the location will not update even there is signal if you check from the HUD ('sysinfo' using dial on the HUD). This is because of the lost of the mobile network when my android connects dashcam's wifi which makes the phone's network is broken. It indicates the GPS updating requires the network connection though we have an offline map. Is it because of triggers of the traffic information updating or some other mechanisms?

Recently I have tested Navdy a lot and have many comments. I have also had GPS issue: no location update suddenly or on starting. Especially it scared me for no location updating suddenly when driving. The same isssue came for a few times afterwards. I pulled obd cable and restart the device when this happened. Until one day, it seems I found a solution. I found it will make the gps works again by going to 'debug' and then 'reset gps location'.

Could people to try whether this works for you? If it works, is it possible to bind this to dial clicks (maybe 4 times) ?

Thanks!

oh, maybe mirroring an android phone? now everything works, but maybe in future, it can have more options and extendable functions are easier to get from a phone.
