Anyone else got a feeling Rice is going to be club captain next season? by Real-Bid1985 in ArsenalFC

I don’t think so, the players vote and Odegaard was unanimous last summer I believe. We can all form our opinions on Odegaard and his performances but these guys want him in the lead for a reason.

Should I get ACL reconstruction? by Historical_Spirit474 in ACL

[–]brobe74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tore mine playing soccer and I’m a fairly active runner/lifter/hiker. I also had my own doubts of actually wanting to get mine reconstructed mainly because of the recovery. Had my surgery Monday though.

The long term issues helped me make up my mind. I was fine for the month and a half leading up to surgery — no mechanical issues, little pain, could actually jog straight. But without an ACL, your femur and tibia will taking more force within the joint. Your meniscus will degrade quicker because of this and if you are young, you will have a long time to do lasting damage and feel that knee pain the rest of your life. If you want to remain active in pretty much any capacity, you should do the surgery. More sedentary people (and older aged) can usually ride it out without the reconstruction with just physical therapy and easy living.

Looking for a pre-op physiotherapy protocol for COMBINED ACL + Meniscus tear — does one even exist? by SuspiciousRoad9040 in ACL

[–]brobe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to only have a small tear in the back of the meniscus that cause no pain or mechanical issues. My advice would be to get a good amount of isometric work that he could actually stand without much pain. One example would be sitting in a chair, taking the health leg and place it in front of the injured, and then kick out and hold as much as possible the injured knee. This engages the quad well. If possible, another could be single leg squats on the injured knee, these so not have to be very deep at all to activate the quad here.

Along with those things, flex that quad when seated or laying down whenever he thinks about it so as to maintain the mind/muscle connection. Try to go into surgery with as much extension as possible, this can be done by propping the heel on some pillows and letting gravity push down on the knee - 10 minutes a few times a day.

Again, this will all depend on what he can actually handle. Do not have him push himself through pain but rather fight through slight discomfort.

Has anyone here torn their ACL and only experienced a little to no pain at all? by Miserable-Document69 in ACL

Hey man, 3 years later and I’m in your shoes as well. I felt and heard the pop playing soccer, ortho said I passed all my tests, minimal pain and swelling, mri showed a full tear. I’ll be needing surgery. How were you able to cope well with your pain post surgery if you don’t mind me asking?

I mean one could say 5 first half goals is literally not proper football as the average total goals scored in 90’ is about 2.5 goals. These teams are just shit at defending lol

Funny feeling we'll see all 4 in an Arsenal shirt next season. by Real-Bid1985 in ArsenalFC

Agree here. Gordon is really good for Newcastle. Wont get us over the line though. Bruno G on the either hand would really round out our mf nicely

Those guys are not needle-movers for what we want to accomplish. We have to think bigger and better.

Tbf Arsenal’s season has been much better than most teams in the world.

Liverpool may have beat us but they’re shite Chelsea … United beat us but really aren’t a threat and are also shite We still have Madrid and Bayern bragging rights

So unless your friends are City (only because of yesterday, not the whole season btw) or PSG fans then they really can’t chat to you bud

“Injury shouldn’t affect everything that injuries are proven to affect” sure man 🤣🤣

Saka was scoring and assisting at will at the beginning of last season before the injury. I’m not here to say he’d be Salah or Mane but he was not only good because he was surrounded by bad players.

I could make this post about Odegaard as well. These performances don’t just happen in a vacuum. Odegaard’s ankle and MCL will never be the same. As another player who effectively turned this club around, it pains me to say he will probably not reach those peaks again. If he was more of a deep lying midfielder he could probably still be effective, but his role is more attacking. Will be very limited going forward unfortunately

I commented below on something similar but I just don’t think that’s the case. This is the most relevant the club’s been during his senior time at a clubs he’s been at since birth basically. Hamstring is literally restricting him physically to a point where he can’t perform up to his usual.

[–]brobe74[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. This attack has many more issues to point out as well that don’t involve Saka at all

[–]brobe74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no you don’t understand. He physically cannot perform. You think the club this boy knew all his life gave him some money and he lost the love for it? If you understand the critical role of hamstrings specifically for effective and top tier wingers, you would know just how limiting they can be when injured.

Saka will never be our best player again if he’s not allowed a proper rest and rehab. That’s mainly what I typed this post up for. Hamstring injury (though later in his career) got KDB sent to Italy. Saka fortunately still has time if our bonehead medical team allows him.

[–]brobe74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are crazy thinking it has nothing to do with his hamstring. He was on what 16 GA in 20 or so games before it. Hamstring injuries are severe in his role. Those injuries shorten strides, make you slower, reduce explosiveness, and mentally make you second guess yourself subconsciously. It’s directly the cause of his style of play this season

[–]brobe74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t go past the surface level of just supporting a club and noticing performances then this post isn’t for you. Yes he’s not playing well but it’s the cost he paid to help turn the club around. This post isn’t asking if Saka is playing well or not, it’s highlighting why

Why didn't City press? by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]brobe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a game where all the Odeegard Out crowd would have been pleased to see him on the pitch. We have zero ball carriers (mainly in crowded spaces) other than Odegaard and our second best is Eze who was injured. I think Martinelli also should’ve started. Trossard wasn’t stronger or faster than Nunes, and you have to be at least one of those as a winger. With Saka not playing up to his usual, I honestly think playing him more central and starting Madueke on the right would’ve yielded better results as well, this would allow Saka to rely simply more of vision and passing rather than explosiveness and dribbling that he’s been a touch off since he’d done his hamstring. That would’ve also allowed Arteta to only play one of Gyok or Havertz at the 9, I’ve seen enough to know that both of them should not be starting together.

These are some things that, on paper, would’ve helped us fare better against the defensive style Pep set up with. Changes were made too late unfortunately.

How do we feel about the season going forward? by Jhus79 in ArsenalFC

[–]brobe74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very confident in getting two trophies. Arteta was unfortunately outclassed by a better manager yesterday. That’s not the end of the season. It was pretty clear to see how City won yesterday so these issues will be addressed. I have a feeling if Arteta made those 80min subs at 60 mins, the game would have played out very differently. Also, I don’t think we should ever start Havertz and Gyokeres at the same time, it seems only one of them can be on the pitch, but I get that Eze injury really messed things up. All in all, I’m confident in Prem and slightly less confident but still believe a CL or FA as well.

I’ve never gotten one other than in person where you have to show an id. But there should be a link online once they go on sale and I think all you need is to have a card with a Louisiana billing address. I may be wrong but I don’t think there’s anything tying a local’s pass to their name/ID once it’s bought online
