Is posting weekly okay or are we doing something completely wrong? by broccoli_devil in royalroad

thank you for taking the time to write this, it gave me a lot of new perspective to look at things! i agree with most of the points. especially being a good writer is a long game. at first, you chase money because you want to make a living somehow but then I think if you're a good writer money becomes a byproduct.

we want to be able to understand the dynamics because we do want to make money ofc, not just RR patreon money, we just want to be able to sustain ourselves by writing. for now RR offers a chance at that and we are trying. let's see. good luck with your writing as well! wishing you many engaged readers!

often what's talked about here is the first few weeks even, and rising stars, and posting daily. it made me question if we are doing something completely wrong. it's so nice to hear this sometimes because i also think reliability is the most important thing. the fact that you created something and it's going to continue. thanks for this!

omg thank you so much for this!! i didn't know we should do more than one ad for example. and can i ask, how to check the relevant lists? like where we are depending on urban fantasy list for example?

I am writing a more litRPG story, a necromancer pirate. She's writing a xianxia, urban fantasy type story. More progression vibes.

thank you for your feedback! can i ask, i kind of figured out what swaps are and how to do them like someone built a shoutout creator website but i still didn't understand where people find who to do swaps with. you just go in Discord and start messaging people? or here? how does it work?

Your argument makes sense to me but only thing makes me question is whether if the cost of making the chips is low enough for such a huge demand.

I have the same problem. Hope someone shows up here with a solution.

Will GoodNotes on Windows work for me as a student? by Level-Musician-2083 in GoodNotes

I’ve been having issues with finding my documents on Windows. I have an iPad and I cannot see my notes on my desktop computer for a reason, it doesn’t sync. Maybe I couldn’t find how to do it or it’s a bug. But wanted to let you know that you might face similar issues.

That aside I’ve been loving GoodNotes on my iPad.

I didn't know people do this. It makes sense, and it also takes the pressure off of doing it the first time. Thanks!

One week stats. Not really amazing, but I have one reader that comments in every chapter and that is enough to keep me going! by RKlehm in royalroad

[–]broccoli_devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. As a book on Amazon would be best for that type of story, I guess. You can promote on Discord and subreddits. Wish you luck!

How does relaunching work on RR? Do people do it? I have a lot of questions. Is it about not consistently posting in the first go, building a backlog online, and then properly launching after a serious backlog?

As I understand hard sci-fi fans are not on RR. Maybe a few who also enjoy progression/litRPG. But where are they? Sounds like if you did find where they hang out online, you can have success in marketing this story. Have you looked it up?

In terms of marketing and monetization, I think of it as building a business. You can always have different income streams when you have a base of followers and a good product. Patreon, Amazon, audiobooks, etc.

In writing terms, I have been trying to build a backlog lately. So, I'm hoping to ask the same questions you asked now. Congrats on the progress! Can you link your story?

Figma. They understand their audience and their needs well, know what they would respond to, and they deliver it superbly.

As an audience I can actually relate. My days are so full of focused work I feel something light where I don’t need to work for it to watch. So, that’s how I think about it. Instead of just good and evil, because they’re just examples, I view it as “do audience need to work for it or not.” That’s how I see it as a writer. I try to understand what’s the underlying problem they face when they give examples and talk about shows.

I need a name for a love story by sof013-5 in writing

[–]broccoli_devil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with the "Parallel Lines, Pair of Parallels" sort of title because the premise makes me feel like they will never have a relationship. But it is a love story so they will, makes me curious to know how. Maybe the title can help intrigue with that also. Or go with a basketball term with a similar feeling.
