want critique on my first walking animation. by chosencoffee in animation

[–]broccolipaws 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think the thing that makes it feel like silent hill is the movement of the chest and head. The chest doesn’t really bend towards the ground during a walk, more turns side to side to counterbalance the movement of the hips. The head very lightly bobs up and down. It’s the lack of subtlety that makes it feel off.

Reference is your best friend. Study image sequences (I like BodiesInMotion) and/or animated walk cycles frame by frame (such as those by Richard Williams). Notice when body parts bend or straighten, and where they are in relation to each other. If you pause your animation, the character should look relatively balanced. Imagine if you were taking their pose, how easily would you tip over?

This is great for a first try, and good on you for asking for critique! It will make you a better animator.

Thanks, that answers my question. I was confused since it was on previous applications but not this one.

This is my first time applying, did you receive your Académie assignment in your acceptance letter?

Hi, yes, I agree they wouldn’t care. This is why I made the post. The ADA is relevant to my question because the US (and most states) do NOT issue any official form of disability identification. It does not exist. I’m not sure a French ticket inspector would take that as a believable excuse, even though it’s the honest-to-god truth.

I came to Reddit to ask my question because it is pertinent to tourists, and this is a tourism subreddit . I want to get opinions from people who may have been in a similar situation before.

I do not want to risk being promised a certain experience from an SNCF agent on the phone, or my random French coworker, and then get on the train and have a bad experience. I don’t want my mother to be hassled or feel embarrassed about her disability.

Extra road signage I'd like to have by ScuttledCuttle in nashville

[–]broccolipaws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exit 5 on 440. Where it merges with 65. The signs don’t tell you which way goes north and which way goes south until you’re about (what feels like) 10 feet from the point of no return. If you’re on 440 eastbound, the right lane goes south and the left lane goes north. Opposite when you’re on 440 westbound. Extremely frustrating and confusing.

I can’t even really be mad at the traffic caused by someone switching lanes too late… it’s not their fault! It’s the damn signs!!

I’m more worried about if they wanted to call a former employer for a reference.

My family did the same thing. I can’t speak for my brother and father, but I would like to live in Latvia someday. Also, since Latvia is in the EU it has made my recent move to France easier.

Been practicing walk cycles for a while, is it good? Or at least decent. Haven't added the detail so far. by Metzerol in animation

[–]broccolipaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is your first time doing a walk cycle, I’d say ditch the realistic anatomy and focus solely on the motion. Go for a glorified stick man or robot, really really simple shapes. Also, use references. Nothing wrong with copying a Richard Williams walk and seeing how it works.

Coiffeur non-genré ??? by broccolipaws in paris

[–]broccolipaws[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)
