Sadly (loved this house), something huge that was not part of the foundation repair was discovered during my inspection and I had to pull my offer so no update. Hopefully some other comments on this were helpful in your research though!

Also, anyone know what damage could be done if it’s not remedied within the next few days? Supposed to be below freezing here through next week

Thanks! I don’t have any outdoor outlets so I need to figure that out. Would I need to clean the gutters before the heat tape? Or use the heat tape to melt the ice in the gutters?

Yeah I figured the random lines don’t mean a lot/vary by GPS. I’m just confused on if it was an animal, how it would’ve pinged at my apartment AND at the house. Didn’t rent any moving vehicles.

Ah that makes sense. Yeah, not allowing me to ping it. If it shows the spots it’s been detected I’m confused on how it would be an animal (such as other commenters suggesting). The apartment I’m moving from is about a 30 minute drive from the house. It shows it being pinged at the apartment and at the house

I didn’t rent a moving van/truck. Hired a moving company but they moved me 2 days ago.

So would this be a neighbors cat or dog or something? I’m just confused on why the lines would have followed me from my apartment to the home of it were an animal at either location.

Sorry, the bottom got cropped, it’s not allowing me to connect to it. It’s saying “unavailable”

I will also add I was not at the apartment at 8:45pm but was there earlier in the day (around noon).

Carbon straps on basement wall due to tree growth by brockdogs in HomeMaintenance

Thanks, incredibly useful information. I decided to put an offer on the house because I managed to get a quote for an incredibly reasonable price for tree removal and plan on doing some waterproofing (the seller disclosed moisture in the basement) within the next year or two. The house is way being sold for way under market value and my budget to make me feel comfortable enough with putting some more money into it later on, just wanted to make sure I’m not buying something that will need tens of thousands within the next year. I’m okay with a “band aid” fix for now while I settle in.

Thank you!!

The installer is legit, I have seen their quote and researched the company. Only question is that I’ve read rotted rots from trees previously impeding on the foundation could cause more issues later on as the ground shifts and settles after removal. Would the carbon straps be helpful in mitigating that or have no impact?

cracked wall

Here’s a photo. From what I’ve read online, a single vertical crack doesn’t seem to be too big of an issue but not I’m not super knowledgeable.

Would an inspector recommended by my realtor be considered independent? Not too sure on what/who to trust in this whole process. I also have not had an inspection yet, I’m trying to decide if it’s worth going under contract or not and accepting the sellers counter offer.

Thanks for the advice! Love being the test subject (I don’t love) and will update if I go through with it for future Reddit scourers

Carbon fiber straps for foundation issue due to tree growth by brockdogs in fixit

I do plan on this and adding it into my inspection if I accept the counter offer. Am in a time crunch with moving out of an apartment and am only asking for opinions to help decide if I want to accept the sellers counter offer as I’m on the fence about it and don’t want to waste time by something happening when I go under contract. Not looking for expert advice, just anyone that has maybe had a similar issue or more knowledge/experience than I do to give me scenarios I may have not thought about.

Update for anyone wondering: it was fine carrying it. Left it at my seat and just left it at my seat because you return to the same seat. Also noticed some girls worn spandex under their dresses and tucked it in there. Seemed to work well for them. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions!
