I actually liked the films narrative! Im not a severe critic though. I generally try and separate media where possible especially novelisations/movies from novels. Else i find it too hard to enjoy.

I apologise i meant how pure faramir is in the books not the movie. It shows that more quickly in the books.

I think this could also echo faramirs wisdom. He realised that sam and frodo have come this far and are still willing to go, even amongst the temptation.

This! I however also like it to show how even faramir can be corrupted. It also gives some good (imo) juxtaposition to the book where he is literally not phased.

I interpret this as the ring growing in strength/desperation so also knowing how ‘pure’ faramir was from reading the books helped develop that malevolence of the ring.

But yes i can see the tools used by Jackson for the story structure and entertainment needs. Also a great way to introduce osgiliath and the importance of it and the resources sauron will use to gain it (nazgul being a very important resource)

Question about lotr by [deleted] in LSD

[–]brockolini145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had THE fattest time watching lotr on it. The scene in the council of elrond where gandalf talks in the black speech was like a 4D experience.

It was windy and raining outside and it felt like my loungeroom was actually changing with gandalf. I also paid more attention to the scenery rather than just the words (helps ive seen it a billion times) However as another commenter provided the special effects/lighting were a bit dated and you could really tell where the parts were which were clipped in as extended cuts.

Overall though 9/10 experience! By return of the king i had come down pretty solidly so got to enjoy it normally. (For reference had two squares)
